Long time since I've posted, But here goes.
Someone mentioned that a Capitol Records exec commented about how "surprisingly" good he
found Adam at that Napa concert event. But I believe the guy was a big-wig with Warner Bros.
Music Group. I remember checking at the time to see what artists were with WB, and found that there were quite a few major artists who sell music even without a presence on Top 40 radio: Michael
Buble, Josh Groban, Linkin Park, Green Day, The Black Keys. I thought maybe WB would be a good fit for Adam.
Also about the same time, one of the artists on WB, Regina Specktor, was doing a concert in St. Louis at the Pageant
(which is a rock-oriented theater that seats about 3200). I didn't know anything about her. I checked her website, and found that she had been touring since May to promote her album, which was released in May (#3 on Billboard its first week with about 42,000 in sales). I remember thinking why the hell didn't Adam have a tour to promote TP? The time and energy that went into the radio freebies (that didn't win him much play) could have gone into a real tour that might have created more buzz.
Just my thoughts. If Adam is (and I believe Q3 used this term a while back) an alternative artist, then maybe he needs an alternative label and some alternative promotion.
Speaking of alternative promo, when I just checked the WB website, I learned that Josh Groban will be introducing his new cd (Feb 13) release with a one-night live concert event that will be shown in
select movie theaters. Maybe some day Adam will get to open a record release like that.
I did indeed classify Adam as an Alternative Pop artist and I agree about the movie theater launch. Can you imagine a global movie concert night!?!?!
Setting that aside, it appears that Adam is still with RCA just leaving 19R. The AdamOfficial Website, maintained by RCA, had the 19 Recordings logo removed but the RCA Logo is still there.
