Wiki says that the winners of GLAAD awards are selected: election
Over 600 GLAAD Media Award voters particiapte in the selection of Honorees from the pool of Nominees in each category via online balloting. Voters are made up of three groups: GLAAD staff and board, GLAAD Alliance and Media Circle members, and GLAAD volunteers & allies (which include former Honorees, media industry allies, volunteers from the "Nominating Juries" and "Event Production Teams").[3][4] These results are then reviewed for certification by a "Review Panel" which consists of the GLAAD Board co-chairs, senior GLAAD program and communications staff, and media industry experts. Members of the Review Panel are expected to view all of the nominees in each category, and the final list of award recipients is determined by the Review Panel based on the results of the online balloting and their own "expert opinions".[3][4]
Of course I have my fingers crossed for Adam, but agree it seems to be Frank Ocean's year. Rufus Wainwright has won it a few times before.

The first two articles I saw about the GLAAD nomination had this heading: (Reuters) - Television shows "The New Normal" and "Smash," animated film "ParaNorman," and "American Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert were among nominees on Wednesday for the GLAAD Media Awards. FYI, Reuters is a highly respected international news agency headquartered in London. Its news articles are picked up and published by other news outlets online, in print and on TV. The article reports that there were 150 nominees in various categories. Reuters chose just four names for the headline, and one of them is our BB. To me, that is quite a big recognition of his star power. Whether or not he wins, this is a wonderful news cycle. The universe watches him -- so of course he has "star" power!!

I don't know if this was posted before, it is a review of Angelina Kalahari's (super Adam fan and UK opera singer) show that was recently performed in London. eta: Oops, forgot the link: www.westendframe.com/2013/01/Review-Other-Tempus.html Sunday, 6 January 2013Review: Tempus at the Tristan Bates Theatre (3 stars) Tempus Tristan Bates Theatre Reviewed on Saturday 5th January 2013 "A future world provokes conflict between Druids and Scientists, and between the gay lovers trying to save it." Tempus is a brand new, original piece of theatre. The show was developed from a three month voice workshop at the Actors Centre. The workshop was led by Angelina Kalahari who directed the production. The story of Tempus is loosely based on the opera, Norma, and is inspired by Adam Lambert's performances in the Zodiac Shows in LA.Tempus is a very unique creation. As I watched the show, I could see how much hard work had been put into the production. The whole cast gave incredibly intense performances which demonstrates how valuable a workshop experience can be. more......... Adam deserves it... ... but I think Frank Ocean will get it. Positive reinforcement to coming out, giving importance to the fact that he's now openly gay in the world of rap, he's nominated for 6 Grammy awards this year so the publicity will be larger... You pick a reason. Adam has a chance, though. First openly gay singer to debut #1 on Billboard. And he's done a lot for the LGBT community.
And truly Frank Ocean's album is wonderful. But I think Adam could win this because he have done more -- benefits, public support, and had a #1 album. If not this year, it will be next year for Adam. Matter of time.
If GLAAD's primary focus is commercial success, it will go to Ocean. If their focus is support and promotipn of gay rights, he would be the last choice. I would not be sad if any of the other nominees won. I do think Adam has been the most prominent and most supportive, especially in 2012!! He, IMO, is the most deserving.

I know we all get tired of the "gay, gay, gay" discussions whenever Adam is interviewed. And, he has mentioned that he's tired of it too. But, he has created a discussion and brought his orientation to the forefront. His acceptance may have suffered because of it. But, he did not step back from it. And, during the Trespassing era I thought he talked about it even more and supported more and more causes -- namely the homeless. If the GLAAD awards encompass more then the music, Adam wins. And, IMO, if it ONLY encompasses the music Adam wins.

When I read JayZ's support of FO right after the gay reveal I knew he would have success. That's a powerful support system!
