Music award is given in NYC on March 16th. I won't be there and either will Adam. He will be in Moscow! See, ask and you know. Instant answers for those of us who get a tad confused as to where Adam will be when. Thanks, bb! ;D |

I will be interested in how this nomination plays out. If Glaad is truly about advocacy for the LGBT community, Adam wins hands down. But if Glaad is more interested in commercial appeal..that says a lot about how far Glaad has not come IMO. .
ITA. And I'm probably in the minority on this, but I wish more arts awards were judged for their artistic merit/excellence and not just based on sales or box office receipts or who the media's current darling is.
I'm a voracious reader, and every year different organizations give out awards for books in every genre. For example, my favorite genre (mystery, detective, and true crime books) has the Edgar and Agatha awards. Award eligibility for books isn't based at all on how many hard copies were sold, or how many e-books were downloaded - books win because of sharp writing, well-drawn characters, interesting story lines, etc. Wouldn't it be great if the groups that give out awards for music would look past the numbers and give credit to the best singers and instrumentalists and songwriters just for quality of their output? |
