Below is a screen cap of Sony China's official weibo account's post about Trespassing snatching #1 spot on 京东 bestsellers, after taking over Amazon China. (京东 is another major shopping site like Amazon) As of right now, TSP is still holding #1 spot on Amazon China Bestsellers, GNL #41 and FYE #59.

Thanks Maddie. I'm glad to see Adam doing well in China! It may not be large numbers, but it shows they love him!! Hope Shanghai is sold out!!! yw Yes, they do love him!! Although the numbers cannot be compared to the major markets like the US, it's damn impressive in the said market, especially for a foreign artist. And, this impressive popularity will only amount to more lucrative opportunities and revenue streams for Adam and RCA in China.

All 3 are currently in the top 20 of Bestsellers on Amazon China, and TSP stays at #1 on 京东's Bestsellers (another major shopping site like Amazon).

I have this theory! They stole music & DLed illegally because they had to! They c ouldn't buy these things legally! I also think Adam Lambert fans are prone to spending money on him & he might sell more than others. And one last thing, maybe owning the "real deal" is a status symbol! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Just posted this in News, but maybe here is a better place. Lots of very interesting points! Today was The Grammy Social Media Rock Star Summit. Remember, Adam did it in 2011. This person was there and tweeted about it today. It isn't really Adam news, but everything they are saying sounds so much like what Adam & DMG are doing I think it is worth reading. A mod can delete or move it if it is too OT. New artists aren't as interested in being signed by a major label/being on the radio
The current artist needs to be talented and digitally media savvy to really succeed
popularity in the US is much more fleeting than in the rest of the world
Labels are pushing artists to market their own stuff to their fans
Industry experts estimate the US is at a 90% piracy rate for music
It's a happier time in the music industry than it was three years ago as there's now meaningful revenue from streaming
Today's popular artists are the ones who are talented and charismatic. Maybe 2% of the population
The industry needs to redefine success beyond charts - branding, merch, tours
Labels care less about radio/paying radio. Who you pay off in music is changing
There's no morality in the music industry
Labels are innovating with new models for monetization and making very good margins. And there's new models to be explore
Most important change this year: the world is conversational. Projects are releases in chunks.
Artists use snippets... The product release cycle has completely changed. Constant content release
Streaming, not downloading, is the future
Artists used to be owned. Now they're partner
Views, downloads, followers can all be bought
Interesting point how no one on the panel is talking about Facebook... It's all about twitter
It's all about the quality of followers. Ten followers talking about an artist is better than 40,000 silent followers
Monetizing experiences is the way things are moving
New artists want to be the owners of their work...social media gives artists more leverage to be owner
It's hard to get educated on being smart music business man because label deals are so closeted
The complexities of the music industry/labels/contracts can decrease opportunities
Music industry doesn't like Facebook. Huge amount of pushback rn from labels against facebook's monetization
Do artists leak albums to get publicity? Panel answers yes
Ticketing industry for live experiences is a mess. The power to change is in the hands of the artists

I have this theory! They stole music & DLed illegally because they had to! They couldn't buy these things legally! I also think Adam Lambert fans are prone to spending money on him & he might sell more than others. And one last thing, maybe owning the "real deal" is a status symbol! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ It's more of "wouldn't" than "couldn't", my friend. It's just their mentality --- online = free! From software to movies & music, if it's out there on the net then it's free, which is one of the main reasons why iTunes set up shop in China but is not selling music, yet! There're a few major music sites like "baidu" and "QQ" that actually would pay an one-time fee to the record company for the rights of the songs, but I'm not sure if the artist would see a penny from it other than getting publicity and exposure of their music. The Pop music consumers in China skew teen & young adults at large, especially the western Pop/Rock, most of the music sites offer the option of free streaming in addition to downloading; you get X amount of memory for free downloads before you're asked to become a paying member, or you could just go to one of those complete free sites which make their money on hits and ads, mostly. The Chinese music market is a totally different animal compared to what we're used to here or the majority of the western markets, but one thing is constant no matter where or what, that is, as you pointed out, Adam fans support their idol with their wallets! And, let me just say the Chinese Glamberts got deep wallets, from what I've seen & learned on weibo Hell, all my relatives in China got deeper wallets than I do! hahahaha Yes, owning the "real deal" is a status symbol --- a proof that you're a true stan!! Btw, thanks for posting the Grammy's Rock Star Summit notes. Sounded very interesting and insightful, wish I could be in the audience...maybe one day.
