I, too, had a call from Jerome in Austin saying the FIASCO I had ordered ages ago was in and he was ready to send it to me. I had given up on the book store receiving copies. I will be meeting the mailman starting Monday. YAY  To all going to NY, have a blast. The show sounds better every day!!! |

Yeah, as I said my personal top three is crowded... and the best one is impossible... but top two is easy: Chokehold and Shady. Chokehold grabbed me at first listen at Jezebel ~a year ago and Shady is funky as hell, just the way I like it. And I am very excited of its 'real' premiere this week. I am also very curious what other funky CHIC tracks will Adam sing????  Surely 'We are family' but what else cause I want to be prepared and check out the songs beforehand... iirc Nile played guitar on Let's Dance so I'd be surprised if they didn't do that. I confess I've never understood why some people felt confused about ROF. I understand even less why some people felt uncomfortable. The only thing I thought when I first watched it was: "OMG, that was EPIC!!! The vocals!!! Such an amazing version!!!! And he's sex on legs!!!" But I never felt confused. And of course, I never felt uncomfortable. To the people who felt confused, why did you feel that way? Confused about what? Was it the eastern arrangement? , I don't think you'll find anyone on ATOP (or other Adam fan sites) who was confused or uncomfortable about ROF, so we may not be able to explain it for you. As far as why AI's majority demographic would have been confused by it, I think Jacob explained that better than I could. Suffice to say, it had nothing to do with the eastern arrangement. ETA: LOL! Except for Glampoon...he was confused by the arrangement, of course. For most of the confused Americans, I think it had more to do with that "wailing like a Greek myth about homosexuals lost at sea..." or however it was that Jacob put it...and maybe that "Now I'm a dude, now I'm a lady, now I'm a dude again..." thing too. |

We are in reminiscing mode so I have a short story and reflection. I imagine I was hooked at the "Mama" like so many of us...I know that I was following him from that first time. I remember just after he did ROF I was at my daughter's apt and telling her all about this amazing contestant on AI and I pulled up Satisfaction for her. She liked his voice but did not like his sexual self-touching [interesting considering how she loved MJ] and Satisfaction was not her style. Then I took the plunge and showed her ROF....she LOVED it!!
Her reaction made me ponder the whole touching himself thing that goes on throughout pop/hip-hop and rap these days. I think what makes it so sexy when Adam does it but not others is that he is not doing it because of choreography ala MJ nor is it a power display as in rap....he does it because it feels good....for him!! And we see that.....and that makes it sexy....it is about sex and that is all!!
It took awhile but my DD has not let me know she is madly in love with Adam.....so I have someone to send links to and ogle over...:-). Haven't shared Atop with her though.....that is my private pleasure...lol
