I still don't get why Randy Travis has been so brutalized in the fandom, tho. Adam didn't do a country version, he obviously was not a country artist and Randy was a gentleman about it. He never dissed Adam that I know of. I agree! I also agree about Randy Travis. I was amused at his wife's stony expression throughout the song!Watching the clip reminded me how much Randy Jackson supported Adam. I had forgotten that.

the 0.73, I think it's the result of coversion of currency. It's possible his fans from outside the US donate with their local currency. The odd ending could also be from people (la la la) who donated with special numbers like $129.82 for Jan 29, 1982. I do not know anyone who would do something like that.

I was not confused by Adam's performance of Ring of Fire but I think it was a surprising performance for American Idol. JMHO -- it was the intense sexiness of the performance + the middle eastern arrangement that confused people.
1. It was hot. Or rather Adam was hot. Adam even wore a cat o' nine tails (hanging from his belt) and they broadcast a shot of it in the LIVE broadcast. American Idol has always been family-friendly and pretty must devoid of sex-laden performances. Adam took a song that the writer (June Carter) said was about falling in love and made it about sex. That is part of why I love this performance.
2. The song is a country classic and people are very used to Johnny Cash's version. (see below)
3. The theme was Grand Ole Oppy (ie Classic Country Music). Adam did perform a country classic, but it was not a country song with the Middle Eastern arrangement and interpretation he gave it.
Johnny Cash (the original version)
Dilana's version from Rock Star Supernova (2007) -- this was where the middle eastern arrangement came from.
Adam took the middle eastern arrangement, without the goth, and put the sex back into this song. He made two big changes to the song and performed it on a TV Show watched by a musically conservative audience.
Finally, looking back, and thinking about the American Idol game, I think he would have been better off without the Middle Eastern arrangement, just doing a classic rock, sexed up version more like his Idol performance of WLL. It would have been more accessible to the Idol audience and people would only need to deal with one major change to this classic not two.

Is it safe to assume that the Glamberts have an unofficial goal of at least $31,000 for donations to WAFF? If so, is this being suggested/discussed amongst the fans on twitter or on other fan sites so that we will reach it by Adam's birthday?

Oh, okay...I had heard about it last thread...thanks for answering, albiku. For a minute I thought there was a feud between Aura (henessey) and Adam's fans...glad it was not. Correcting myself - it's Aurea - duh!

Hai, guys! I am now watching Adam's Idol Journey, which I haven't seen in ages - thanks to you people! I MISSED ROF night *hangs head in shame* I never really watched Idol before and happened to catch Group 2 night as fluke and saw satisfaction and was blown away. When he smiled through tears after Black or White, I was in love. But, like a bonehead, I didn't think to start setting the DVR yet. ROF happened on St. Patrick's Day and I went out w friends. (BTW, these friends had just started seriously dating and ended up getting married... But they're already divorced and she's engaged to someone else - that will show you how much time has passed). ...ANYWAY... I never made the mistake of being without DVR since (or iPhone) again and consumed all his amazing ness to my heart's delight (and four years later, that is still the case). I am sooo much more technologically savvy!!!
