Yup being gay and sexual .. Other gay artists are not sexually appealing like Adam..for some , real scary stuff. I believe he tried to tone it down, possibly the pressure talked about by Sam, with Trespassing. When his album went to #1 on BB200 as the FIRST GAY artist, he was labeled again, potential buyers may have felt the album was too gay. Adam being Adam will be himself, thank god, and will let the chips fall where they may. However ,I still think even with that attitude, what else can he do. Adam desires acceptance and popularity by the 'popular kids i.e. the Brunos, the Rhiannas, etc.and certainly by the music industry and radio. It's ~interesting to me that the same people who say "stop making it about the gay" when an interview focuses "too much" on his sexuality are the first people to use the gay as an excuse for why Adam isn't getting the attention they think he should. If it were about Adam being gay WWFM wouldn't have been successful. That song was released immediately following the gayest thing Adam has done in his career....crotch nuzzle and big gay kiss.....if that didn't scare them off then nothing else was going to. There wasn't a NEW gay label placed on Adam when his album went #1 on the BB200....he was ALREADY gay....people already knew and sorry nothing was as gay as his FYE cover. If that OTT picture didn't scream BIG GAY ALBUM then nothing would and it sold just fine. Confused about bolded part... I don't want to go into whether being gay affects radio play or not as we likely all have our own opinions about that by now, but it actually makes sense to me that those thinking it does would want the emphasis to stop being about the gay in interviews since they believe that that same emphasis on his sexuality is partly keeping him from getting the radio play they want him to have. Again, I am not debating about whether or not that opinion is accurate.

Sorry, but no way in Hell is Adam watching the Super Bowl! Why aren't the Ninjas trying to figure out where that photo was taken? GET TO WORK, Ninjas!! Just a note on the reviewer that said the "tower of Babel" lyrics were trite. He was a part time preacher (ya, perfect person to pick for reviewing Adam, right?!) so I am sure he knew what they meant!

Again, I am not debating about whether or not that opinion is accurate. my point was that the fans talk about him being gay more than the media does and then complain whenever anyone mentions that he's gay. Neither Kris nor David Cook are gay and they certainly got even less radio play than Adam did....so....

I agree music is subjective and having a high quality song, which I believe Trespassing has many, doesn't, IMO, make the songs/album transformative. Transformative means it changes the direction of the artists' career, raises it up to a higher status than before. Adam isn't at a higher status than he was with FYE, if anything he's not as high up as before because IMO, BTIKM and NCOE were both higher quality singles than IIHY and WWFM yet neither received radio play. I think the one truly transformative song on Trespassing is Outlaws of Love and that is because it speaks to a generations/communities struggle with equality. It is moving, honest and thought provoking. Personally I'd rather look at Adam's career like an outsider would, rather than a fan. As a fan I want to believe he's the most amazing, splendiforuous thing to ever happen to music....however, if I look at his career from an outsider's perspective, he's done respectably well, he's moderately successful and he clearly has a lot of potential to grow and gain both in popularity and success but he's got a long way to go. As a fan I hope he gets there....but I won't cry about it if he doesn't. Stanning Adam (or any artist) should be about having fun and I can't worry or stress about the things I can't control. Really good grounded perspective that I totally agree with. Re Adam and Grammy nominations. Of course His fans think he was overlooked and deserved a nom - we are his fans. Doesn't mean he was. There are plenty of unsung (pardon the pun) artists out there who do amazing stellar laudable work every year, who toil in bars and clubs. Who make independent albums released on shoestring. Adam is hobnobbing and admired by industry greats, he had a #1 album, he is receiving awards and accolades for his work in human rights, he is travelling around the world singing to devoted audiences... But no that's not enough. I believe Adam was speaking from his heart when he admonished a few years ago that "entitlement isn't sexy" he wants to make music and sing which he is getting ton do in spades - the rest is gravy. this !! both posts ,he may never make huge mainstream success, but what % do? very few ,he is successful hugely so compared to many

Pink is sooooooooooo not his color 8-) Ya think? I don't know... It doesn't stop me from wanting to grab those lips with mine. They look edible. Like pink meringue. Yum:) Pink meringue...ewww, Aleks...lol..grab those puppies and you might end up with a mouthful of wax. Yes I used to eat wax lips back in the day. Tasty things..Mom forget to tell me not to swallow the wax, tho...so if I look a little 'shiny'..it's not botox, honey!!

I do remember that preacher's review. Wasn't he the one that usually reviewed Christian music & was a KA fan?
