I was thrilled to hear what Adam had to say in the Perez video about the direction he is now taking. Very revealing, introspective and insightful. My impression was that Adam came off of Idol with the platform he has always craved, and with freedom to go unchained, letting his freak flag fly. A little bit like the Zodiac ACIGC in response to the repression he felt while working on 10 Commandments.
But we know there is much more to Adam than the club kid in platform glitter boots and feathers. He is also "the boy next door", the thoughtful, deep person, the guy who can sing the hell out of even "happy birthday", the guy who can inhabit a song on an emotional, even spiritual level. He is so much more than a persona.
I agree with him that it is time to show those other sides of him more prominently in his next album. His die-hard fans know it, but the rest of the world is gonna be rocked on its heels to see all that he has to offer. They are already reeling from the "new Adam" he showed this past week --- and loving it.
I can't wait to see what he is gonna do! And am beyond excited to hear an album that focuses us on his gorgeous voice.

Saw your earlier post and your intentions to cut back here. I don't know anyone who can really go cold turkey, but since you're here now I want to say I really enjoy your posts - especially your little summaries and comments re various other posts. Great insight - and kindness, too.
Wishing you good luck in whatever it is you need to do, but I think you know you are special here and I hope you can squeeze us in...

Joan is not funny. Joan is not attractive. Joan is just a douche. and I think Joan is pissed because Adam is prettier than her and her ugly troll of a daughter.
I get sick of the "adam is a woman" meme. When the gay man in the room is more masculine than all the heterosexual men in the room then the woman comments just sound stupid.

I love this interview because I think Adam is verbalizing what we have been seeing the last few weeks, his comfort with himself, no need to always be all glammed up, which is so fab, also, but be closer to who he is on an every day basis. And I'm sure he read some of the (constructive) criticism of FYE and the laments that there was more production than necessary and at times it overpowered his voice. The final confirmation may have come on tour with the enthusiasm exhibited for the acoustic versions of AFTERMATH, WWFM, SOAKED when his vocals were flawless and the audience was stunned and touched by the simplicty and beauty without all the bells and whistles. I cannot wait for # 2 and hope there's a little gritty r 'n r thrown in just for good measure.... Sweet Emotion? |
