The one thing that bugs me about all the news coverage of Adam singing STAY is that it took a song (just released by a major pop star) to get the presses rolling. What? Is everyone suprised that Adam can sing?? I don't understand what is newsy about him covering this song....I'm glad he's in the press but I just don't get it. My 2 cents: Adam's own songs are adamazing as they come, so it is not possible to realize how good he is by comparing his voice to something else. Plus nobody knows most of his songs (thanks, radio!), so posting about how good Chokehold or BE was live would be pointless. When he covers a song everybody knows (thanks again, radio!), people suddenly realize he sounds better than the original artist, especially live. Which for anyone who is not an AFL stan is probably a shock. For some reason, people like Rihanna (her music is banned in our house because my wife hates only two sounds - the scratching of a fork on the inside a metal pot, and Rihanna's voice), so it must be strange hearing Stay sung right.
Art is subjective though, and I am one year older than I was yesterday, so I am probably just grumpy. Also, last night I had a nightmare in which I hated Bieber, and when I woke up I realized it wasn't just a dream. ETA: Oh! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Just logged on because I realized that I not only didn't acknowledge your bday (I don't for anyone) but that I've never told you how much I enjoy you on this site. It is not just your unique (straight male) perspective, but your awesome posts in general! Wow, thanks for the flowers! While I don't post much, I would like to reiterate that I have read every news post, every single day, since November 2011. It has become part of my life and a daily ritual. Such a wonderful place to read...

I love spectacle as much as the next person but it makes me wonder....and fear a little...for Adam, and the musical artists that find it necessary to spend more and more of their money and time and energy on spectacle that does not enhance the music ...in fact, hinders it generally. We see Gaga having to cancel multiple shows because she has blown out a hip...in her early 20's!! That is really worrisome....I don't want to see Adam feel like he has to truss himself up and fly about an arena..nor do I want to see Pink fall and seriously injure herself [she fell once before didn't she?].
It seems like the attention is moving further and further away from musical artistry and towards acrobatics and/or sexualized spectacle. The more shows focus on this aspect of performance, the more expensive the tickets are....and the less money actually goes into the artist's pocket. Does not seem the preferred direction, to me....don't mean to p#@# on anyone's parade, especially not yours mys*&@^#r...but I really have a problem with this kind of alternative to vocal excellence.
Gone to hind behind the blue couch that I cant post using quick reply....

P!Nk did 5 songs with aerials. The other 4 were ballads. She used silks, bungees, and an amazing hanging chandelier type ball. They definitely enhanced the songs, beyond beautiful. The one I posted was her finale and was supposed to be OTT, OMG, crazy! I would go see her again tomorrow if she had another show here. P!NK is P!NK! I would never expect anyone else to ever do a show like hers. They can't! She has gymnastic training. She is unique!

Gaga did not cancel a few show -- but the rest of her tour. Just to be fair -- Gaga's injury is very common among dancers and is not from flying around on a high-wire. More info about it here -- www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/torn-way-losses-lady-gagas-422023Note: Lady Gaga gets paid up front, but most artists do not. And wait and see but I bet that insurers find a way NOT to pay on this insurance policy since she has to prove the injury occurred during this concert tour. And she said that she has suffered with it for a long time.

Adam could hire Sauli for the silk aerials...lol...didn't P!NK injure herself when she was in gymnastic training hoping to be an Olympian one day??? Gymnastics is as much in her soul as Adam's style of entertaining is in his. There is room for all kinds of creativity, I would hope. I see the point about 'more is not necessarily better'...I'd like people to just go see who they want and enjoy themselves. It's entertainment. Different strokes....

March?? no, thanks! tell your boy to do it in July! oh, when is he gonna sing with Queen again?"
