Isn't there anything we can do to make your dreams come true? What am I, chopped liver? Btw, leena, I told hubby about your extra 2 tickets, just to gauge his reaction, well, this is how it went down: "Finland? hmmm... when? March?? no, thanks! tell your boy to do it in July! oh, when is he gonna sing with Queen again?" ooooh... Will hubby crack open his wallet for a future Queenbert concert?? In the summer? In the U.S.A.?

P!Nk did 5 songs with aerials. The other 4 were ballads. She used silks, bungees, and an amazing hanging chandelier type ball. They definitely enhanced the songs, beyond beautiful. The one I posted was her finale and was supposed to be OTT, OMG, crazy! I would go see her again tomorrow if she had another show here. P!NK is P!NK! I would never expect anyone else to ever do a show like hers. They can't! She has gymnastic training. She is unique! If Adam is my boy, P!NK is definitely my girl! I absolutely adore her! She is unique and super talented, just like Adam. I'm glad you had such a wonderful time at her concert, she was here in Phoenix last week but I couldn't make it last minute.

The one thing that bugs me about all the news coverage of Adam singing STAY is that it took a song (just released by a major pop star) to get the presses rolling. What? Is everyone suprised that Adam can sing?? I don't understand what is newsy about him covering this song....I'm glad he's in the press but I just don't get it. So true. This is fabulous, but where was all the media when he did OLL, Soaked, Underneath, Broken English? They were/are fabulous live. The media seems so surprised that someone who sings bombastic dance/rock/pop numbers can sing a ballad with such emotion. Haven't they listened to the albums? Guess not. Well, any PR is good as long as it keeps 'em interested and talking.

OMG! I just got a picture, in my head, of the GB flying over my head on flying ropes!! Ya, I'd pay good money for that!! LMAO! HAHA mys*&@^#r....but wouldn't that be dangerous!! lol....do we really want to take that chance?? I realize that Pink has amazing acrobatic skills...my comments were more re the shifting of the importance of the singing from the voice to the spectacle...and yes, there is Adele. My point was not that the songs or show was not great, but there is no way in hell the singing can be as stellar when you are hanging upside down regardless of how good you are as an acrobat. I did not say that Gaga was an aerialist...but her injury did not come from her singing...it came from the dancing and jumping about, for hours, while trying to look a very specific way [so that the emphasis is on the appearance, not safety]. We here have always taken such pride in the quality of Adam's voice and performance. I was voicing my hope that he does not feel pressed to compete with the spectacle at the cost of his vocals. Pink looks great flying about but you cannot tell me that the vocals are enhanced by floating on silks or on a trapeze...the show may be, but the singing cannot be. But I was not referring just to her...we have often discussed here the amount of spectacle in most of the big shows now. Even Adam could not sing his best under those conditions. That is what I was referring to....and the cost all that equipment adds to the ticket price... I question whether we want to see Adam move in this direction...that is all. He is pretty competitive and his natural inclination would be to try and keep up with the Britney's and the Gaga's..... Perhaps I am just being a worry wart and fuddy duddy...

I love spectacle as much as the next person but it makes me wonder....and fear a little...for Adam, and the musical artists that find it necessary to spend more and more of their money and time and energy on spectacle that does not enhance the music ...in fact, hinders it generally. We see Gaga having to cancel multiple shows because she has blown out a hip...in her early 20's!! That is really worrisome....I don't want to see Adam feel like he has to truss himself up and fly about an arena..nor do I want to see Pink fall and seriously injure herself [she fell once before didn't she?]. It seems like the attention is moving further and further away from musical artistry and towards acrobatics and/or sexualized spectacle. The more shows focus on this aspect of performance, the more expensive the tickets are....and the less money actually goes into the artist's pocket. Does not seem the preferred direction, to me....don't mean to p#@# on anyone's parade, especially not yours mys*&@^#r...but I really have a problem with this kind of alternative to vocal excellence. Gone to hind behind the blue couch that I cant post using quick reply.... No need to hide, but also no need to worry. The fascination that everybody has with the cover of 'Stay' shows that an internalized and vocally expressed emotion is very much something that many people are longing for and it is very much appreciated when discovered. It's not like Adam's performance receives comments like 'well he just sits on a chair'. Did not read that or anything like that even once, it would be comical is anyone tried. On the other hand, I have caught myself multiple times breathing deeply at the end of the song, somewhere I must have forgotten to do it during the song. That is how much his singing grabs me. I realize that this specific example that mys*&@^#r posted does not demonstrate that, but normally PINK! is known for combining both, being able to deliver vocally and acrobatically. If you want an example of that, watch her live performance of TRY, here: I would love to go to a Pink concert too. Great B'day gift and thanks for sharing.
