One of the current Idol contestants, Devin, just sang Track Of My Tears. For me, didn't even come close to my favorite version of this song by Adam: I agree. Just happened to be switching channels and caught this. Should be a rule on Idol to never let anyone sing a song Adam sang, LOL. I was disappointed and always wondered why Adam's recording of this was not sung the way he did it on Idol. As a special "treat" the contestants recorded the songs using the original instrumentals and arrangement. Which was probably good for most of the contestants whose version was not as good as the original. But, with Adam........ |

I know the answer to this. the studio versions of all the Motown songs that week were sung using the original tracks.
I listen to Adam sing this almost daily. I just love it.

where wus i ,yup sophieb ,informs us we,re meetin POSTHESTFUM ,fer lunch,,an she,s stayin in the next door hotel tae ADAM ,thats sophie not postfesthum ,
so we,ve all tae meet postfesthum at her hotel ,which she say,s is the SOKUS .
so TILLY gits oot the map ,an say,s which one ,cos there,s 6 sokus,s ,of course sophie disna have a clue!!
well tae cut a long story short ,which involved phones that didna work ,a visit tae an internet cafe ,an apple shop (not tae buy apples ye ken) we connects with POSTFESTHUM
while we wait for PF ,SOPHIE tels us how she would just NOT be a stalker cos that would be so embarassing ,ye have all read her recap ,, am tellin ye she wis like GREASED LIGHTENING ,when she BOLTED across that road ,at the sight of adam coming oot the hotel, sqealin like a stuck pig !
of course while the rest of stood at the street corner ,with great decorum, pretendin she wasna with us !
postfesthum ,who will now be known as HANGOVER , cos apparently thats what her name is in latin,(and now i know why),took us to an amazing rester(fuck i cud niver spell that word ) eating hoose fer lunch
sorry a,ll have tae finnish this tomorrer the niegbors bangin on the door again ,she thinks ave pinched mare than one bottle aff her wine rack

LOL! This is a perfect example of TMI, but I am still laughing. I wish I could get a totally accurate translation rather than the "hardly stay is in his pants."
Again, as I do every day, I wonder what other fandom has this much fun. When I grow up I want to get a job with Google Translate so I can keep people scratching their heads and saying, "Whaaatttt?" I believe also that Adam will win this award.
Really for me the question is more why were these four artists chosen, because it is an odd selection. Once you have it reduced to these four, I have to say, Adam does stand out as the most likely to win, if cultural influence is measured rather than sales. What is harder to figure out is, based on what they narrowed it down to these four. And I agree also that his only true competition is Psy, the ladies seem like an afterthought in this grouping.
China's interest in promoting Adam and increasing his reach within their country is quite fascinating for me to watch. So different from the US where the relevant decision makers in the music business clearly have very little interest in pushing Adam (radio, I am looking at you, especially). So fun to watch, how a country that has tight controls on its music scene is clearly thinking differently and is in its viewpoints quite a bit ahead of the knuckleheads that are evaluating music in our country. Pop music to numb the mind in the US, pop music to stretch cultural references in a classy way in China. And always the respect for the vocal talent and the theatrics and performance skills too.
I am so glad that Adam is given so many opportunities in the Asian market and in China especially.

ETA Idol: Devin was in the bottom three a few times already and is one of the most likely candidates to leave soon. It probably does not matter what he sings anyways. He is not one of the more serious contenders left. Song choice only matters, if you have something to say. With Devin this is not the case.
