OMG! I come home from work to see I've gone from virtually NO followers (okay, a couple!!) on Twitter, to 22!!! I'm feeling pretty special!!! Thank you, Adamtopia!! Now I just have to think of something intelligent to say in 40+ words or less. That is not going to be easy!! And then I have to figure out how to post! XOXO to everyone!! 140 words, not 40!

Actually, it's 140 characters, not words! I wish it were words. There's always Twitlonger if you have something substantial to say, but most of the time I find myself trying to figure out how to abbreviate enough words to get my 143-character long tweet down to 140.

This video, which is a bit controversial, was directed by Diane Martel, the lady who directed WWFM and was a special consultant on BTIKM. #winkwink I personally like Diane Martel, but I see nothing to 'grab' on this vid, cept lots of boobs. Boring. #yawn

We should have a Twit day on Atop where all posts have to be 140 characters or less. Photos and gifs are not included. What a wild time we could have with that...anybody game? I forsee lots of posts and maybe some lurkers will come out and play as well. Or it could be a disaster, but we've had worse threads...

I didn't like this either. Plus the photo she used was from the Young Hollywood Awards IIRC which was very soon after Idol (That award he got from Kara.) Maybe the photo was touched up. I find that Adam's skin does look better overall but some lighting and camera angles can be less forgiving. I don't really give a rat's ass. Adam is as perfect as they come, but I cry foul on this article. I don't get the concern over this. Public photos, a blog about an public event (Fashion Week) an employee attended as a representative of a fashion/beauty company. Some gossip that she heard and nice things to say about our guy and us as fans even. Yes she does make it look like her companies products vs talking generically were the reason, I agree a bit of an overreach there. It was also written last summer. If it's OMG a company is making money off him then really we should put the JustJared site out of business along with TMZ, every radio station, etc etc. If a perceived misrepresentation of Adam's image is deemed to have occurred, Adam has a team that will deal with that. I am glad Shoshanna knows.

OT, but has some relation to Adam ... I recently found this interview with RuPaul on YouTube (see link below). It was conducted in 2009. RuPaul and the interviewer not only discuss his personal and professional background, but also his reflections on society's attitudes toward drag, femininity and gay culture. I thought parts of it were fascinating and had some parallels with some of the challenges that Adam has faced. Some highlights: - At around 16:00, RuPaul discusses the attitudes of society toward drag. He says that drag isn't as accepted as it was in the seventies, even in the gay community. He says that gay people are "obsessed with everything that is straight-acting" right now. - At about 17:00, he talks about society's problems with femininity, for both women and gay men: "using femininity as a palette in a patriarchal society is akin to an act of treason". He points out that our culture is afraid of both women and gay men using femininity, which he defines as feminine "goddess energy" ("people are afraid of femininity; people are afraid of a smart woman"). He is asked whether he has experienced the most prejudice from being gay, black or a drag queen; his answer: being gay. Of course, the gay community is now embracing Adam much more (the GLAAD award, as one example), and U.S. society as a whole has become increasingly more accepting of the LGBT community since this interview was conducted. But I think this interview gives some perspective on the initial reaction to Adam when he came on the national scene four years ago, and some of the negative comments that he has faced in regards to his style, particularly his use of make-up and embrace of androgyny. This interview is OUTSTANDING!! Watched it all and I was entranced. Thanks so much, Iridium!
