ABSOLUTELY!!! Ditto to the applause! I cannot imagine what Jason's life was like -- even his twin brother did not know he was gay. Parts of the SI interview just made my heart ache and other parts were so optimistic they made me laugh. He's so brave to do this, knowing the sport industry. I wonder if his team will treat him differently in the locker room. We may see more athletes coming out, however I doubt we will see/hear the more popular athlete (if there's one) does it, especially ones that are getting millions from sponsors. JMHO.

One of the comments from a user named LOHA said: we may finally have something here and nile is involved & i don’t care what’s its for but adam is killin it and when that man murders something its all goooood!!
Thanks to everyone who brought over tweets, vids..I am SO out of the current music scene. I didn't know Avicii and I got to watch all the vids that were posted. Yeah, I can see Nile, Adam and Avicii together..for whatever musical project it was for, I can't wait!! Adam did use the word 'recordings' recently and perhaps he will do more collab oriented music for a bit. Or not. Like Loha says..it's all 'goooood'! Thanks, Chunkey..great read!

A lot of out celebs never got the public support that Jason has gotten. I don't think Ellen or NPH or any of the well known out stars have ever gotten a President to call them and congratulate them. But that's how it is because of 1) different times and social/cultural attitudes when they come out 2) out stars in the sports world is rare opposed to the entertainment world, etc etc. He's in a very unique situation as far as all the kudos he has gotten, but he also will prolly get a lot of backlash for this from assholes. Being a sports guy and being out like this, the first one, cannot be easy. He should be applauded, and as much as we'd love to see certain people get their "due", we really can't compare him to Adam or anyone else. They each have their unique paths to travel, their set of challenges to overcome, and in the end each will end up getting their "due" no matter how quickly it comes or how many Presidents call or don't call them. IN CONCLUSION: *ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR JASON* Basically a lurker now........hope it is okay to jump in and "Ditto" you........the FIRST BLACK ATHLETE TO COME OUT AS GAY?????? Really, how can someone question how this is NOT a momentous day?? Seriously.......still to some ignorant people.......black and then add gay. I really hope our younger generation is more inviting than mine. Wish I was born 50 years ago:)

I hope no one thought I was seriously pining away for Adam to get a call from a president. Or from Jay-Z. I was being a bit snarky. But I was also being a bit truthful in that my-loved-ones-should-get-all-the-recognition-they-deserve sort of way. And I hope I was clear that I have nothing but support and admiration for Jason Collins and Frank Ocean. Sometimes in the world of quick posts it is difficult to know if one has inadvertently given the wrong impression. peace&love No need to explain. I think it would have been great for Adam to get a call from a president and Jay-Z -- but all 3, Adam, Jason and Frank, have said they would prefer to be known for what they do rather than who they chose to love.

Politicos are always happy to let the public get way out front on an issue and then run to the head of the parade as if it were their idea all along. If we were still in the age of using lots of envelopes that needed licking, you'd come in SO handy at my house, Junie! Your avi always makes me stop in my tracks somehow.. I keep thinking Adam's tongue must be getting so dry and I want to give him a water bottle. (You know I love it, bb... )

He does not have a team anymore. He is on the Washington Wizards roster but their season is over -- they are not in the NBA playoffs. He becomes a free agent in July. He is a tall utility player who may not even be signed to another pro contract. He is 34 years old which in the NBA puts him at the end of career. Funny thing is that while he is the first active US pro player to say he is gay, there is a real chance he many never play again in the NBA. Not because he is gay, but because his stats are marginal.
