I'll answer one of your questions. IMO, DMG would never allow Adam to make a 360 deal! And I believe Adam would leave RCA before he'd do that! I really am beginning to think that Adam would be better off away from RCA. The only thing big labels seem to have to offer is help getting radio play (which hasn't worked out well). Distribution deals can be bought. No 360 deals for sure!!!

I have not been here for a long time, but really I love this thread. Industry talk is so interesting to me. I known very little about the music business, or any business for that matter, and I love to learn new things. This morning I was thinking about Adam's up and coming concerts. I am under the impression that Adam is a powerful concert draw in relationship to his recorded music sales. People fly all over the world just to attend his concerts he is that good. I am wondering if there are others who have similar records of sales vs concert revenues, and conversely who have great sales, but can't fill seats? Does this mean that Adam has a smallish, but extremely ardent fan base? Of course, this is great for Adam's personal bank account as artists make a lot of money from touring, but the label needs to be kept happy also. Do you think Adam will eventually make a 360 deal with RCA so they can gain from what is one of their artist's greatest strength? 1) Adam has a fairly large worldwide fan base, although not in the same league as Gaga, Bieber or P!nk, etc., still pretty impressive considering his stats and status. Those people flying all over the world to attend his concerts are diehards, or Glamberts if you will, which makes Adam's fan base seem a bit "cult-like" at times, and "smallish". 2) Jordin Sparks, another Idol graduate (a winner at that and another amazing vocalist) who is pretty much in the same playfield as Adam, when it comes to music sales (actually, Jordin is slightly higher both in albums sales and singles sales, domestic & int'l.), but she can't fill seats, at all! And, if you look at the Billboard 2012 Year End Charts (Trespassing was at #188), most of them (with a higher chart position than Adam) would not even have a chance to go on tour, domestic or int'l; and probably more than 80% of those lucky ones (who tour) would not even dare try headlining their own tours, theatre or stadium, domestic or int'l. Concert attendance and music sales aren't as correlative as people think, and Adam has built a good reputation in the concert/touring circuit, domestic and int'l. 3) Trespassing's overall worldwide sales, though miles and miles behind FYE, still seemed to manage to break even & make profits for the label, combining all other digital and licensing, etc. revenue streams. But of course, RCA would like to and could've made so much more off of Adam....Adam is a cash cow, RCA just needs to know how to milk it! :D 4) There're very few artists right now who have a true 360 deal: Bieber and Madonna, right off the top of my head. I don't think Adam is in a position or keen on such an idea, however, according to IFPI, one of the future trends in the industry will be profit sharing between the record companies and the artists---of course, we all know what that means.... 5) Adam might eventually leave RCA, after he fulfills his contract...or a midway "amicable break-up", but he will have to/need to stay with another major label, if he still wants mainstream success and to continue being a pop star. RCA really failed radio this era but that's not to say they don't know how to work radio or have no muscles in general, there're lots of songs on the radio from RCA artists; and if you look at the weekly top-selling albums on BB, they all got radio hits. Sad to say, in today's digital world, radio still is one of the most effective medium to sell albums and singles (if not the most), thus the mainstream popularity. Without the machine and its support, I'm afraid Adam will eventually become a niche singer and the fandom will really become a "cult".

I sometimes fear that he might become a niche singer also, and that is why I stress over keeping RCA happy. Keeping him in the public eye with mainstream opportunities are like Divas, PLL and now this Idol finale are vitally important. I am crossing my fingers, as I am sure we all are, that he will have better luck with album 3 and radio. He is so talented that he will always have an interesting and very lucrative career though no matter what path it takes. Lots of different directions mega talent can go, but I want him to get what he wants.

RCA hasn't lost money on Adam, made a ton on him from the 1st era especially, so I doubt there's anything to be unhappy about, it's actually a matter of whether or not they have explored Adam's full potential and gotten the most out of it. Nowadays, music sales is only one of many revenue streams for the record companies, but still the most important one. Adam will be fine either way, all depends what he wants.

Some comments: 67 adds for Mariah/Miguel song seems just incredible. I hope Adam gets to duet with someone that is huge on the radio. Is there a chance to snag someone really big like Katie Perry or Gaga? Katy has same management so maybe hope there.
Fantasia is doing well well with her album. I am glad because she is a very talented singer, and it is always nice to see talent rewarded. I am one of those people that is pleasantly surprised by her success because her genre is off my radar screen.
I am disappointed that Jessica Sanchez only sold 13,998. I was team Jessica last season and gave her my votes. I am completely taken aback my how huge P2 has gotten. He seems like I nice person and am sorry he has health issues so young, but I really didn't think he was that talented even compared to other WGWG. He had so much luck with home. Makes me think Interscope knows some stuff about pushing a single if they are so inclined. Giving you a dirty look RCA.
Speaking of voting, I am starting to feel like jumping on the Angie train and throwing her a few votes. Then again, I don't think she is as talented as Candice so I don't know if that is the honest thing to do. Singing with Adam has made me like her a lot though.

Really bad for a runner up. I will have to check MJ's but pretty sure it is the lowest debut for an Idol. However, she got 17 adds yesterday, so if radio hitches on, she will be fine!

Adam never got that many, has he? Why does it seem like radio is playing every but Adam? I checked the pop radio chart - there are UK artists that don't seem pop, e.g. Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sande, or UK reality contestants, like Olly Murs. Mumford and Sons? Are they pop? Even Adam's friend Anna Kendrick, who is an actress, has a top 40 pop hit, and Emblem3 soon will. People say he is not being blacklisted but I dunno about that...Either that or someone is not doing their job. :(
