I post here since it's the new thread
but
Mys*&@^#
Do you think Cook's new single "Laying me low" will get radio adds since Cook doesn't have a mgt team????
WHoa Fantasia sales were higher than TP sales...sometimes I think we need to re-evaluate how well Adam is steering this slippery rollercoaster game of music sales.
Lastley Adam says Wheels turning...new recordings to come...since it seems Cook is releasing a single and not a full album or do we know if that is the case
so could adam just be releasing a single recording by September or soonish????????????

First, Fantasia has a lot of years behind her. She is bigger in the R&B world than probably most of you realize! And her appearance on Idol was really, really good! Cook does have a management team. He is with Simon Fuller's XIX. What he doesn't have is a label. It will be interesting to watch the progress of this song. He is probably doing just a single as a "watch and see" how it goes strategy. No, I do not think Adam will release just a single with no album. What we don't know though is exactly what he was recording with Nile. Was it a song for Adam #3? Was it an Avicii song? Was it the soundtrack Nile is finishing up? I have said for months that I think Adam will have a single out by end of summer and an album by end of the year! I still think that.

I have said for months that I think Adam will have a single out by end of summer and an album by end of the year! I still think that. Good points all around, Pat! If I may, also the comparison between artists' first-week sales is quite inconsequential, especially across genres. For instance, from the same week, will.i.am.'s new album, #WILLPOWER, debuted at #9 in the US with just a little bit over 29,000 copies sold, yet his 2 singles are burning up on the BB Hot 100 and selling like hot cakes, and not to mention his huge appeal in the major int'l markets and potentially formidable overall worldwide sales, and likely a lucrative world tour to follow, which is a prospect that is often out of reach for artists like Fantasia. But, I'm glad Fantasia is doing well in her debut sales, last time I heard about her was some personal "scandal", and before that, she was on the verge of losing her house and facing bankruptcy. Also, glad Cook is doing his own thing, too!

P!nk Holds at No. 1 on Hot 100, While Rihanna Rules at Radio P!nk tallies a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Just Give Me a Reason," featuring fun.'s Nate Ruess. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, meanwhile, notch a second leader on Digital Songs and Rihanna ties for the most No. 1s in the Radio Songs chart's history."Reason" remains atop the Hot 100 despite not leading any of the survey's main component charts. The song holds at No. 3 on Radio Songs, up by 10% to 125 million all-format audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS; lifts 6-5 on Streaming Songs with a 2% increase to 4.7 million streams, according to BDS; and falls 1-2 after four weeks atop Digital Songs (253,000 downloads sold, down 4%), according to Nielsen SoundScan. Rihanna's "Stay," featuring Mikky Ekko, jumps 6-3 on the Hot 100 (returning to its peak position), fueled in part by a milestone 2-1 coronation on Radio Songs (134 million, up 4%). The ballad becomes Rihanna's 11th No. 1 on Radio Songs, tying her with Mariah Carey for the most leaders dating to the BDS-based chart's December 1990 inception. Usher ranks third with seven Radio Songs No. 1s, followed by Ludacris and Kanye West, each with six, and 50 Cent, Beyonce, Boyz II Men, Bruno Mars and Katy Perry (five each). "Stay" bullets at No. 4 on Digital Songs (162,000, up less than 1%) and No. 15 on Streaming Songs (2.9 million, up 10%). *********** ************ Outside the top 10, notable for its plunge on the Hot 100 is K-Pop star PSY's "Gentleman," which tumbles 5-26. The song debuted at No. 12 two weeks ago, powered by initial online buzz for its video. It falls 1-6 after two weeks atop Streaming Songs (4.7 million U.S. streams, down 66%), even ranking below his breakout hit from last year, "Gangnam Style," which holds at No. 3 on Streaming Songs (5.3 million, down 22%). ("Gentleman" is now up to 252 million YouTube views worldwide [as of this posting]; the Hot 100, however, includes only U.S. views each week.) Sales for "Gentleman" also decrease by 50% to 36,000. The song's 1.2 million in radio audience is not yet a significant factor in its chart fortunes, accounting for just 1% of its Hot 100 chart points. If anyone is curious, David Cook's new single's "Idol bump" has him up to #77 on i-Tunes overall. It was off the Top 200 previously.

If anyone is curious, David Cook's new single's "Idol bump" has him up to #77 on i-Tunes overall. It was off the Top 200 previously. It's down to #95 now, at $0.99 markdown. Daft Punk's "Get Lucky"(feat. Pharrell Williams) is at #16, with a ton of radio play, and I like the radio edit a lot better too. Soon, we're gonna start doing all sorts of tracking for Adam's new single... #excited_for_what's_to_come#

I have not been here for a long time, but really I love this thread. Industry talk is so interesting to me. I known very little about the music business, or any business for that matter, and I love to learn new things. This morning I was thinking about Adam's up and coming concerts. I am under the impression that Adam is a powerful concert draw in relationship to his recorded music sales. People fly all over the world just to attend his concerts he is that good. I am wondering if there are others who have similar records of sales vs concert revenues, and conversely who have great sales, but can't fill seats? Does this mean that Adam has a smallish, but extremely ardent fan base? Of course, this is great for Adam's personal bank account as artists make a lot of money from touring, but the label needs to be kept happy also. Do you think Adam will eventually make a 360 deal with RCA so they can gain from what is one of their artist's greatest strength?

I'll answer one of your questions. IMO, DMG would never allow Adam to make a 360 deal! And I believe Adam would leave RCA before he'd do that!
