5.5.13 Win a chance to see Adam at GLAAD Awards!

***inspired by the lovely words of Momtomany and all of you who contemplated over his music in the past few days



The first photo of Adam Lambert in studio has appeared, a lovely one at that, which would be my cue to start anticipating new music and try not to get too frustrated during the period. I am doing a marvelous job so far, but again, it is not because I have suddenly developed some noble human qualities such as patience or self-discipline, no; it is all thanks to him.



More precisely, it is thanks to the fact that Adam is where he is right now, at a very delicate point in his life, which would be best described as an aftermath of both personal and professional emotional tempests. I am carefully choosing my words here, extending due respect to his private life, but I think, I feel, that the likewise respect should be shown towards his professional situation so to speak. After such a capital album, where he invested his all and given his everything, and which must have been draining, some kind of mental and emotional processing is in store. Knowing Adam, who has always struck me as a thinking man, it is probably a complicated process, but I have no doubt that the outcome is going to be positive and fruitful, to him. So, there is nothing left for me to do but hold my breath and wish him the best. Impatience and frustration are banned from my Adam-dealing spectrum of feelings, successfully so. He is so strong and I am at least going to try not to be weak. 



Meanwhile, I have, just like most of you, dived into thoughtful reconsideration of my opinions and feelings about his songs and I have to admit here that there is absolutely nothing objective or scientific about that. I can't, I simply can't, view his body of work without my too invested, too personal, complete ILHSFM filter. How can I? I can write a list of reasons for each and every song he has ever recorded about its sound, message, meaning or purpose being exactly what Adam wanted; of course, I could be spectacularly wrong, but it does not matter. So, from the soft, dreamy, electronic whispers of a Loaded Smile, which bring me a vision of Adam who loves the ambient, chillout, dreampop of Air, to the most general or generic Adam could allow himself to go side dish of Never Close Our Eyes, still making the best of it and offering it as a more than decent, earwormy, neutral, radio hit - not to mention the colossal and amazing multitude of everything in between - I love it all. Whether he wants to confess or impress, rebel or please, I love the way he does it. Sometimes that love is instant and unwavering, sometimes it is a shifting process, but it is always there.


A strange thing happened, a sort of a spine-chilling realization, while I was revisiting Trespassing. What with it being an autobiographical album, it is redundant to say that it is based on his life's stories and events, looking back and inside. But, there are some lyrics there that, at this point in time, sound almost prophetic. Visionary. As if he had known... He could not have known, of course, and here I am talking about, one,  the end of his relationship and two, the ultimate question of whether he was allowed to trespass or not, but that's the way it feels to me. Like we had an art imitating life situation on the album, and then, in some surreal happenstance, his life decided to imitate his art in return. The case of mirror images, with his life on one and his art on the other side, has led to the infinite series of reflections, making the tie between the two endless and unstoppable, forever trapped in the smooth glide along the infinity symbol line...


I have wondered briefly whether, after the extroverness of FYE and the introvertness of Trespassing, Adam will reach some kind of equilibrium on A3, the equilibrium between him and us, between what he wants and what he needs, between his id, ego and superego... Perhaps he will, but I think it would be best to leave this psychological mumbo jumbo for after the release of A3, or not do it at all. And it does not even matter, ultimately. Right now, he has some songs to write and music to make, and I do not want to disturb that process. And yes, I totally think I can, like my overthinking can somehow stop his creative juices  from flowing:) So, there is going to be music, there are going to be songs, and there is going to be his voice, his words, his choices, his taste, his thinking and wanting and liking - my happiness and gratefulness are almost embarrassing.
