I think Crazy Little Thing Called Love was Queen's tribute to Elvis, after his death.

I think Crazy Little Thing Called Love was Queen's tribute to Elvis, after his death. It was a tribute to Elvis but written a couple years after Elvis' death. It is a wonderful song and to me it is an example of Freddie's brilliance as a songwriter since he wrote it in 10 minutes. ETA: Here is a source for the time -- www.queenarchives.com/index.php?title=Freddie_Mercury_-_05-02-1981_-_Melody_MakerAlso, Elvis died in 1977 -- CLTCL was released in 1979.

I think Crazy Little Thing Called Love was Queen's tribute to Elvis, after his death. Yes, CLTCL was written and recorded in 1979, 2 years after Elvis died. And it was Freddie's tribute to Elvis.

That is not Elvis. This is a YT with a story of Freddie presenting the demo to Elvis in 1977 and Elvis recording it immediately. It did not happen. Here is the Wiki for CLTCL -- written in 1979. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crazy_Little_Thing_Called_LoveETA: Here is the sheet music -- and the copyright is 1979 -- 2 years after Elvis died. xa.yimg.com/kq/groups/23320503/842012718/name/Crazy+Little+Thing+Called+Love.pdf ETA 2: This is not a "fake" -- I believe it is the cover of this song recorded by by The King a very talented Elvis impersonator from Ireland who distinguishes himself by "only recording songs by those who have joined the big E in Rock n Roll Heaven. He also did Elvis versions of No Woman No Cry, Bob Marley, Voodoo Child, Whole Lotta Rosie, Imagine, Come As You Are.

I think Crazy Little Thing Called Love was Queen's tribute to Elvis, after his death. You're right! Damn, why didn't I think to check the dates? Elvis died in 1977 and Freddie wrote the song in in 1979.

It is fake. This is likely Jimmy 'Orion' Ellis' cover version, from his 1980 album 'Rockabilly'.

Here is a different impersonator version -- not very good. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceUT4f2fVhoOne of my Elvis expert friends tells me the "good one" is "The King" not Jimmy Orion Ellis' version. But I have found 8 different impersonator versions!! I am sure there must be 100's!
