I'm not going to get upset with Angie's comments, because I can easily imagine this happening before the season eight finale: Interviewer: You’ll be back to sing on the finale next week, and there are rumors you’ll duet with either KISS or your own personal idol David Bowie. Any truth to those rumors?
Adam: I don’t know 100% what’s going on yet. I would die if I were able to sing with David Bowie. That would be the most incredible thing ever, so I hope it happens. And then, of course, Adam fans would be defending Adam and laughing at the KISS fans who took it as an insult to their favorite group. When all it really is, is a huge fan of a particular artist getting excited about the possibility of singing a duet with that artist. Just as it was with Angie, whose exact words I used above, just substituting a couple of names. Not everyone has to have Adam as their very favorite singer. The fact that Angie would love to sing with her idol, Jessie J, does not mean that she isn't also honored to sing with Adam. Yes, I agree completely. I can also imagine this question happening today: Interviewer: You’ll be back to sing on the Idol finale next week, and there are rumors you’ll duet with either Angie Miller or David Bowie. Any truth to those rumors? Adam: I don’t know 100% what’s going on yet. I would die if I were able to sing with David Bowie. That would be the most incredible thing ever, so I hope it happens. Also, I was upset when they put Adam with KISS and he turned that into a big win (Beth solo is still one of my Adam favorites) plus got to sing with Queen. Adam being put with KISS demonstrated that he usually works it all out and taught me not to get upset about things beyond my control.

I don't know much about this girl but I think she has every right to gush about her favorite singer and for that singer not to be Adam. JMO. I haven't watched Idol in many seasons but if based on what I've seen in the past, I think they'll probably sing WWFM or maybe BTIKM. These seem to lend themselves best for a duet. I know that's not exciting for a lot of us Adam fans but, truthfully, this is supposed to be about highlighting the contestant. I know Adam will be a generous and solicitous duet partner and will help make Angie shine, which is how it should be IMO

I am actually stumped as to what they could sing that would be an inspirational rock song that would showcase a great duet. I was left with Nirvana, which Adam isn't going to sing. Maybe, maybe BTIKM? Map is very, very nice, but as a duet? I am actually pretty excited to see what he comes up with , because I know it will be brilliant. "Pop That Lock" was one of my suggestions a few days ago for their duet. It's pop-rockish, and I think it'd be a great, upbeat choice if they perform a song from his album. The lyrics are inspirational and fitting for the situation she and all the other contestants are in. Only issue might be that Adam just did it on a talk show in China and that performance will air soon (but most folks in the American audience won't see it). And the fact the he's recently performed it could be a plus because there's already footage showing AI producers that the song works on TV and it serves as sort of a dry run for Adam. also would be an awesome summer single if by some miraculous chance the song takes off after millions of viewers hear it on the finale But, in any case, it represents the fun, fierce side of the album and might entice more people to check out Trespassing. Hope Adam looks as amazing on Idol as he looked this weekend off national TV accepting his well-deserved GLAAD awards. My silent mantra for the week, just maintain.

Adam is going to be doing a duet with Angie on Thursday. I expect it will be great. But I want to comment on Angie-gate. ** When Angie responded to the Rolling Stone interview question about rumors of her dueting with Adam Lambert or Jessie J. with the comment about Jessie J. and no mention of Adam, Adam fans had three immediate responses: 1. Some thought Adam was not going to be on the Idol finale. This quickly faded and was eliminated completely when calmer fans pointed out that the night before Ryan Seacrest announced that Adam would be doing a surprise duet on the Idol finale. 2. Some fans thought this meant that Adam would be dueting with Candice because only the top two get duets. This quickly faded and was completely eliminated when fans familiar with Idol provided them with past history proving that many more than the top two finishers get duets. 3. And some Adam fans felt Angie had dissed Adam by saying that she wanted to duet with Jessie J. and not mentioning Adam. For a few fans, this has not faded and has morphed into a critique of Angie. I am certain that Angie is excited to perform on the finale and excited to perform with Adam. But Jessie J. is her favorite pop artist and she may prefer to perform with her favorite. Who wouldn't want to perform with their favorite artist? IMO there is nothing wrong if she prefers to sing with her idol. In all of this, the happiness about Adam being on the Idol finale, being the first non-winner to return to Idol and perform on the finale, is being lost. Let's not let that happen. Let's not forget the biggest reason Angie didn't say more about Adam. SHE CAN'T!! It is a surprise duet. They always are. Sure there are leaks, but the confirmation has to come from Idol. So Angie tried to give a "non-answer, answer" and failed. Being able to do that is a gift. Adam happens to be the master of non answer answers. Angie has yet to learn! So what she did was simply avoided saying Adam's name.

Not meaning to beat a dead horse, but as one who was on team Angie was being Rude in her RS comment, I now think the fault is RS's. The way the question was set up with both artists mentioned, I believe just about anyone with decent manners, which I am sure Angie has, would have said something nice about both artists. To not mention one of the artists, especially if you knew you would have a huge duet together is too odd to be believed. So I think RS left of the part of her comment that went something like "Adam is a great singer and I am thrilled to perform with him" She can't say anything about performing with Adam. Idol has not confirmed that Adam is singing a duet with Angie. There is only one statement about Adam being on Idol from FOX, 19 or Idol -- Ryan Seacrest on the Top 3 results show said Adam would be on the Idol finale doing a surprise duet. Yes, she could have said "I'm not 100% sure what is happening yet but I am really excited to be on the finale." But she is only 19. All of the press reports about this are based on one article in The Hollywood Reporter and that was based on an unnamed source. ** Setting that aside, she did not insult Adam, she just did not mention him. That is different. She also did send a nice public tweet to Adam on May 7th. ETA: I see MySpenser50 pointed this out already. I am usually a bit late!!

YES, THIS!!! "In all of this, the happiness about Adam being on the Idol finale, being the first non-winner to return to Idol and perform on the finale, is being lost. Let's not let that happen. "And I want to add that as much as we might wish for Adam to sing all the songs etc I think that AI should be about contestants, their development both in risk-taking maybe not quite getting there and excelling to the best of their abilities. Also in the finale I am interested in how they manage and I think about how they would succeed in the real world too. All other performers are just the icing on the cake attributing to a big show. Having said that I'm ready to celebrate Adam and his appearance - it is a great opportunity to woo the audience once again on Idol stage which not given to everybody. Bring it on! Clarification. Not the first non winner to perform at a Finale. The first non winner to perform a duet with a finalist, which means you are being invited back as a STAR, not as a past Idol! The other times were either a joke skit (twice) or as the Simon farewell.
