5.21.13 Help answer this "Why should Adam be an Idol judge?"

I definitely like the IAMX tune way better than the Daft Punk song. I do appreciate Nile's guitar front and center on Lose Yourself to Dance. I always felt it was a bit buried in Shady. I just can't get into Pharrell's vocals.

I guess the main reason Adam should be a judge on Idol is because he wants to. I think Idol misses the "mean" judge. The Simon Cowell. Not that Simon was always really mean....he just was very frank with minimal tact. But his words seemed to have credibility laced with a bit of controversy. Very entertaining. I don't believe Adam could fill that role, though. Adam likes his positivity too much. But he would provide tangible suggestions for improvement. I just wonder if he could ever tell someone they were awful.

What has turned me off to Idol, the Voice and the other talent competitions is the hype given the contestants right at the start. "You're a Star" after just one performance. "The best voice ever" Even the studio audience's over the top reactions. So Fake.

If Adam wants it, and he does, then I want it for him and I hope it goes alright. Not because I doubt Adam's skill, but because I want Adam to be part of the judges team that is the'turnaround team' and not another year of sliding further downhill - team.
And I don't think that this group of producers and executives has an effing clue how to fix it. The suggestions have been out for years and they are not taking them, which tells me they are not getting it. Perhaps a year later would be better. After A3 is done and needs to be promoted. And I don't think by November 2013 Adam will be done with A3.

That recent AI press conference that Q3 posted a few days ago only confirmed my feelings about this management team.
Adam can do a lot of good as a judge, but single-handedly turning this ocean freighter around, he cannot. It takes a management team with a vision, a harmonious team, good contestants, good song catalog, playing to idols strengths instead of imitating the competition and lots more to make it work.

Yes to Ben Folds, though. He is rather analytical and really, really good in his succinct critiques and would be a good balance with Adam's more out there and warmer and sunnier personality. Adam is very positive towards other peoples artistry and tends to be always complementary. I think Adam's strength is the variety of aspects he takes into account and that showed when he was a mentor. He talked about facial expression with one contestant, vocal technique with the next and personality related advice with a third and all were spot on. He will bring variety and interest and competence and humor to the evaluation.

So, that would work and then they just need a competent and pleasant female and they have a judging panel.... and then we just hope and pray that they made enough managerial changes at the top to make it work again.
Not holding my breath on that one though. They'll just hang Nigel and save their sorry asses at Fox, I am afraid.

Find Daftpunk interesting, but don't love it. But might enjoy it if super quality vocals would trade off with the guitar in a interesting form of back and forth and layered in with rich harmonies. So, with Adam it could work, maybe.
