The problem with Clay being brought into the conversation is that it is too easy for ignorant people to bunch him and Adam together in their minds as the 2 gay Idol guys, when in reality there is NO similarities between them. Outside of Claymates (is this grp still active?) Clay's reputation is not good at all. He is not respected. This is not who we want Adam lumped with. I do not believe Idol is even considering Clay, if the have an iota of sense at all, but that is irrelevant at this point. But I still think that the media attention on Adam is a good thing. Most cooments seem to say just cancel this dying show, but when regarding Adam they all are possitive except for the obvious homophobes, who are the ones who need Adam in their lives the most.
There is no all right and all wrong direction for Adam here. If he does, or doesn't get chosen, I will have equal feelings of hopefulness and concern. And Adam says, things happen for a reason so I am fine with whatever.

Regarding Idol, one thing that has me a tiny bit concerned is that I am pretty sure Kelly C. and Clay are friends. Now, I know she likes Adam and has said very nice things about him in the past, but she MAY like the idea of working alongside Clay. And Idol may want her bad enough...' Please don't anyone jump on me. This is just one little thing I have been thinking about. Personally, I think AI would be crazy to have Aiken on the panel (talk about having NO relevance), but Idol isn't always smart. I do not believe Kelly and Clay are close friends. Here is her response to the question in 2009: Q: Still friends with Clay Aiken? Kelly: Yeah. Q: Do you ever baby-sit for him? Kelly: Oh, my God. First of all, Clay would know better than to have me baby-sit his child. Link: www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/2009/03/06/do-not-ask-kelly-clarkson-to-baby-sit-your-children.html** Regarding the current rumor -- the folks at FOX/19 may be the stupidest people in TV but there are limits even to their stupidity. Idol had two alums who did not win on the finale -- Adam and JHud. Why this year? >> Many Idol watchers (including me) will never ever ever ever ever watch Idol if Clay is on.<< If they were trying to gauge reaction to which gay #2 alum to have on the panel, the jury is in -- at least based on the online comments. And that Clay picture on The Vulture vanished and turned into Adam. I have no idea if this Idol Superstar Panel rumor is real, but there is no way it will containbe Clay. None. They have many, many other better choices -- including Adam. Clay had commercial sales success as an AC artist but his time has past -- partly because he has offended so many people along the way. His last single on the Hot 100 in 2004, his last album was #120 on the Billboard album chart. Adam is Grammy nominated, did major concerts as lead singer for Queen, his last album was #1, is an international star, a had recent sold out worldwide concert tour, and is a recognized gay leader. I can see Idol wanting to have an out, gay judge.

You shouldn't. Really - we were eventually kinda relieved when he didn't get on the judges panel for S12. (I was anyway.) So if he doesn't get on this time, we can anticipate heaving a sigh of relief after a few months. I would love to see Adam on TV on a regular basis... but ...maybe I am in the minority ... as I would rather not see him on AI as a Judge on a regular basis... I know Adam would love to do it, and he would be great at it. But I still think that performing - singing and acting , and even behind the scenes producing would better suit his caliber of creativity . But Adam has always proven me wrong in my misgivings , and he may turn it around and make "Judging" a strong platform to push forward his career as a singer/performer. The only thing I can do , is trust that Adam will make the right decision if invited by AI to join the Judge's Panel. If the other guy is chose over him.... I will not be disappointed . Something better... bigger always happens for Adam . Thank you

Sorry, one more comment on Idol before moving on and off: I do not for a second believe that Adam wants to be a judge because it would be fun. He is a smart, over-thinking artist who has had to make multitudes of decisions based on what will further his career. If he is an Idol judge it will have significant impact on his career in many ways. I think Adam is informed and calculated, and has thought through all those ways, basing his decision on that. For that reason he has my support in this.
But he would, of course, have fun as well!

OT, but I thought this was an interesting article in the NY Times about Shane McAnally, who is a very successful country music songwriter (and occasionally performer as well). He also happens to be openly gay, and working in a genre that has historically been very conservative. The times are changing ... for the better. Excerpt: "Over the last few years, he has emerged as a commercial force in Nashville, a songwriter with a unique melodic and lyrical touch, and an uncommon knack for hits. Since November 2010, he’s helped write seven No. 1 country singles, and numerous other fine songs, for some of the genre’s leading stars (Kenny Chesney, Luke Bryan, Lady Antebellum), legacy acts (Reba McEntire, Lee Ann Womack), and upstarts (Kacey Musgraves, the Band Perry). Sitting at dinner in a downtown Nashville restaurant the evening of the “We Wouldn’t Be Here,” session, Mr. McAnally received a text message informing him that “Mama’s Broken Heart,” the feisty Miranda Lambert single he helped write, had reached No. 1. What really sets Mr. McAnally apart, though, is his personal life. Mr. McAnally is gay. Country remains American music’s bastion of cultural conservatism, with a fan base that sits well to the right of the wider pop audience, and songs that strenuously uphold traditional white working-class images of masculinity. Mr. McAnally presents a paradox: a Nashville powerhouse who is also an out gay man — a songwriter who cooks up chart-topping country songs at the home he shares with his husband and their 5-month-old twins. For Mr. MacAnally, the two facts are not unrelated. “My career really took off when I came out,” he said. “When I stopped hiding who I am, I started writing hits."" www.nytimes.com/2013/05/26/arts/music/out-and-riding-high-in-nashville.html?pagewanted=1

I can't believe they could be seriously considering Clay either. Talk about irrelevant. He's a joke and when he went on Apprentice that just clinched it for me. Didn't most of the articles start leaving his name out and putting Adam's pic up instead of his? That shows people aren't interested in him. Anyway I'll try not to think about it and get in a flaily mood for tomorrow. We get to hear him sing a new song!
