Well I thought we'd have analysis of these. I can't tell the difference except the main part slightly muted. However it almost seems that the same "whoo hooo" from the crowd appears at the end at the same time and both videos loaded by the same person. So anyone hear any runs etc that don't line up? Did the uploader use different videos but the same audio? Sigh. I was hoping someone else would listen and analyze and convince me that it was sung live. Cuz, comparing phrase by phrase it sounds exactly the same as far as notes, sustains, cut offs, etc. Adam can be very consistent, but that seems too exact for even him. I know of Adam's distain for lip synching, and could not believe he would agree to it, but, it must have been absolutely necessary? Why, oh why? Gotta admit, I am disappointed. Like he compromised his integrity, somehow, being known as one singer who would never stoop to faking it. I know, I know, he probably had an overwhelming reason for it having to do with the sound system, the venue outside, etc. I'll recover. When I saw both vids I thought the same thing :/ But, you really couldn't tell if he was lip-syncing or not. ETA - He would have to had practice the lip-syncing to get it perfect - no time for that IMHO

IDK how it was performed but I can't understand what difference it makes in Adam's case: one thing if someone lip-syncs because they can't sing as good as the recording (this would be the majority of pop singers) and another thing is if one lip-syncs for some other reason, perhaps having to do with production requirements... (i actually doubt he lyp-synced...) I vote we enjoy it and not do an autopsy on the performance. It went beautifully..and I see stones coming. *ducks* I'm still embrarrassed I got into the dissection (theme based post.. ) about his coat. But, boy did I learn a ton about crystals and bejeweling from Dancygeorgia! Which I totally appreciated! Thanks, bb! my bolding above^^^^ I second that vote!!!! The performance was beautiful and wonderful - no autopsy from this fan.

With a few exceptions, new iTunes songs are added once a week -- Tuesdays around 2:00AM EDT. Thanks Q3. I hope Lifeball tweets about the song soon. Now is the time to put it on iTunes.

I'm trying to catch up on housework with Adam playlist in the background. Did you know you can't do that? Mind goes to his dance moves for each song and I must dance! Screw the dusting. Thanks for tweeting them, Grandduchesspf.

It is entirely possible to have the live vocals going out on site and yet have prerecorded vocals on the broadcast stream. It is possible that the same full track used at the rehearsal was what went out on the stream. It is also possible that even though his mic was live they deliberately had it lower volume in the mix to give precedence to the prerecorded track. Bono talked about this a lot with U2. Often when they appeared on TV shows what went out on broadcast was prerecorded even though they were actually playing live in studio. Later in there careers Bono always insisted that his vocals be totally live but he has the status to insist on that and Adam may not always be able to get his way there. As a matter of fact when they did SNL at one point Bono made a big deal about how they actually were totally live when most musical guests are not allowed that.
In any case singing live with a recorded track behind you is not quite the same as true "lip syncing" which is actually just pretending to sing. He looked like he did a fine job of matching the track which actually doesn't surprise me because in my opinion the only times he has had "trouble" lip syncing were in situations where the video was actually being edited like in music videos or some TV programs where different camera angles where edited for a final show. I would think his theater training would insure he is capable of repeating performances exactly when necessary even if that is obviously NOT his preference.

Ditto.....seriously.....why is there such a need to dissect/over analyze EVERY performance???? This,..for me only......is one reason I do not want to post very often. mys*&@^#r50.....read your pm's.......

I don't have any problem at all with people dissecting any aspect of the performance, whether it is the coat, makeup, Melvin, or the singing. We've analyzed his love life, his partying, and everything else. I certainly hope we can discuss his singing and the performance since they are the most important things to discuss (in my opinion). So it appears to be lip-synched. It's not like people are making up lies about him, and it's not the end of the world--at least to me. There are many reasons why big, outdoor productions like this use recorded performances. Do we really want to put blinders on and just pretend something else took place? It was a fun show!

And I was hoping you'd convince me they are not the same vocals. But, alas, I agree with you. The parts that are improvisatory in nature are identical. He never does that. I'm sure there was some production reason why he had to do it. Really? Disappointed? Integrity? If Adam lip synced it was because he had to! Anyone here should know that his integrity, when it comes to just about everything in his life, is high! This was for a charity. He has friends with HIV. Wanted to be involved. If this was the system they had, for their music, he lip synced because he had to.
