A couple thoughts on this Elvis-Adam day. I read Q3's headlines during breakfast. Then today my 8th grade music class finished watching a video about the Great American Songbook (type of songs popular mostly in the 1st half of the 20 C). At the end, the video explained how teenagers of the 1950's wanted music that was new and different and showed a clip of Elvis's "Jailhouse Rock." It's the exact performance that Adam commented on in one of the interview clips on page 1. Funny coincidence.
Other topic. I've just been listening to all Adam's AI performances--live and studio. It's been ages since I've done that. They are as great as ever and not at all like a newbie trying to figure out how to perform. WHAT FUN!

When Adam talked about the year he spent on a cruise ship, he discussed the type of music he sang, and I think he said they did some Elvis songs. Would love to know which ones he sang. Don't remember that he ever said what they were.

Hey! I wasn't dissing you! I understand why you like Elvis and complement you on it! This is why I don't post much because I really can't put my words out there in the manner in which I mean most of the time. I was more lamenting the fact that I didn't see Elvis the way most of the world does and I don't really know why. Besides I don't dislike Elvis, I have his Albums still after all these years. Please forgive me? I wasn't mad. I actually understand why some people don't see Elvis the way I do. Elvis was a member of a highly stigmatized group, just as Adam is, and didn't try to hide it. People react viscerally to him, just as they do to Adam. Truly curious, because I really don't know: What highly stigmatized group was Elvis a member of?

I don't remember if this's been posted. ETA: Look up, Adamrocks has just posted the link. lol news.radio.com/2013/05/28/from-glambert-to-kelly-5-former-idol-contestants-wed-like-to-see-as-judges/#.UaZw3g76IXw.twitterFrom Glambert To Kelly, 5 Former ‘Idol’ Contestants We’d Like to See As JudgesMay 28, 2013 5:29 PM In the latest round of singing competition shakeups, it’s being reported that Jennifer Hudson could become one of the judges on American Idol next season. Hudson would become the first Idol alum to take a seat on the panel of judges, a marked difference from the show’s recent push for superstar recording artists with little-to-no prior affiliation with the competition. Hudson isn’t the only one, though. Amid talks of her potential return to the show, rumors have it that the panel could be comprised of more former Idol hopefuls, creating an all-star reunion of talent while the show retools itself following a season of disappointing ratings. Whether or not bringing back familiar faces to critique talent will save the show’s free-falling ratings is certainly up for deliberation, but with the right combination of judges, mixed with an intriguing retooling of the show in other departments, could prove beneficial for Idol in the long run. Here’s a few other former Idols that could assist in that process.
Adam LambertOne of the rumored possibilities to be hired as a judge, Adam Lambert, is one of the show’s more popular recent contestants, and one with an undeniable grasp of singing and performing on multiple levels. Lambert would certainly be able to pinpoint and pick out the musical aspects of a contestant’s performance and appeal, but he was known during his tenure in the competition for being able to reinvent and retool the songs he was singing for his own purpose and vision. If the show was like The X-Factor in that the judges were also mentors, that would be a perfect line for Lambert, who could also assist in the creative process as well as the singing. Still, from the Idol booth he could certainly give out some interesting advice in that realm, highlighting each contestant’s strengths to best accentuate the showman side of their performances, as that has always been his specialty. ..

YW Adamrocks! Adam mention.. ca.omg.yahoo.com/blogs/the-juice-celeb-news/78-old-barbara-eden-dons-dream-jeannie-costume-133113427.html78-Year-Old Barbara Eden Dons ‘I Dream of Jeannie’ Costume for GalaBy Raechal Leone Shewfelt | The Juice .. Obviously, Eden took the ball's organizers seriously when they encouraged guests to wear "fancy, unusual outfits!" She bared her taut belly and sported a braid — just as she did in the old days — while sharing the stage with the night's host Fergie and the man she called her new master, President Clinton.
Eden even posed backstage with costumed glam rocker Adam Lambert for a snapshot.

When Adam talked about the year he spent on a cruise ship, he discussed the type of music he sang, and I think he said they did some Elvis songs. Would love to know which ones he sang. Don't remember that he ever said what they were. I watched and listened to all the 2009 and 2010 interview with Adam about Elvis. My impression is that he knew very little about Elvis before he went to Graceland. He seemed a bit more familiar with Elvis' music in 2010 Sirus XM interviews after he had been the Elvis mentor. I am almost certain that when he does Elvis-like moves in concert it is natural not a copy. ** I am a bit older than Adam and Elvis is well before my time. I really did not know that much about him until I adopted Tupelo, MS as my home town. Here is my fav Elvis video. youtu.be/WtY9GL8hm2kAmazing video of Elvis' performance at The Mississippi-Alabama Fair and Dairy Show on 29. Sept 1956. The filmer is positioned at the left side of the stage, so close that Elvis at one point nearly steps on him/her! The AUDIO is very good, considering the vintage. Afternoon show Heartbreak Hotel Long Tall Sally I Was The One I Want You, I Need You , I Love You I Got a Woman Don't Be Cruel Ready Teddy Love Me Tender Hound Dog Elvis' 1956 homecoming concerts in Tupelo were a great event for all considered, the city, the Presley family and every resident, including 14 year-old Virginia Wynette Pugh, who would later rise to fame eleven years later as country star Tammy Wynette. The shows were amazing.
