I really believe with all my heart that if Adam's music was played without people knowing who it was, I think they would like it. I run into too many people (family, friends, co-workers, acquaintances) who pre-judge Adam and won't even give him a chance. I have given out the CD to people who haven't even bothered to listen to it. I have invited family members to go to Adam shows where I would treat, and I am told they are not interested when they have NEVER heard any of his music. So many people know about my obsession and not one person has ever asked me to send them a link of his music. :( thelambertluvva, so sorry about that. Do they ever say why they are not interested? Unfortunately, I never asked them why they were not interested. I asked a niece and nephew in their 20s to a concert and they said it just wasn't their thing, although they never heard his music and most likely did not see him on Idol. I asked a friend and her boyfriend to go to a concert, but the boyfriend said he had no interest in going and he had never heard his music before, although he saw him on Idol and said he had good stage presence. It was rather disappointing as the boyfriend was an avid concert-goer and had no aversion to electro pop (they went to Gaga and Black-Eyed Peas concerts). This same couple were hosts to a party I attended where I got a collective EWWWW when people found out I was an Adam fan. None of these people had even heard his music before!!! They just didn't like him. I was really tempted to tell my friend to put on his CD and not tell anyone who it was.

Although I don't expect everyone to love Adam, I am interested in why he seems to be a turn-off or why people don't give him a chance. Could be gay, could be AI, could be makeup, or even vibrato. Whatever.

It isn't the "gay." It may be the "flamboyant." One said she doesn't care for his "style." What does that mean? My impression is that they both wrote Adam off without learning anything about him, or listening to anything by him, except maybe a bit of Idol. I don't get it.

I'm not sure what Adam's "style" is. He obviously has performed so many styles over his career and, even now, could be going in a different direction for #3. I think some people use the word as a euphemism. My family & friends know I'm a huge fan but of course they don't realize just HOW huge. Several friends agree he has a phenomenal voice and one even offered (out of the goodness of her heart LOL) to go to a concert with me - if he appears locally. My immediate family is better. They like him a lot, agree his talent is second to none, and have gone to several concerts with me. But nobody I know in real life is a FAN. I envy those of you who have friends in your life to share this obsession.

One more thing - One friend loved his voice but turned away from the video and said "Ewwww I can't stand to look at him when he sings." I nearly terminated the friendship over that remark.

I love the criteria for the people chosen for the book! "photographing people who have made a difference in their field as Elvis did"This is the end of the thread, but I hope someone sees it. Please enlighten me as to what Michael Buble has done to make such a difference. How did his fame come about? I never really knew who he was until a friend of mine shared her "obsession". I would say he brought back the "crooner" and made it cool again! Got it into Top 40 actually. (I am not a big fan of his though)

Betty - Awww. That's so great that your mom sees that you're having fun and is happy for you. That's what I wish my friends and family would do. I guess I'll try to learn from it and try to be more tolerant of others. I used to roll my eyes at a friend that stanned Princess Di. I just didn't get it but it made her happy. Keep us posted. I think your Mom is getting kind of close to the edge of the rabbit hole. What fun if she falls in! 8toinfinity, sorry, I’m a little late with my reply! Haha, yes, I will keep you updated re my mom! TBH, it was more meant as a joke, I don’t think that she will really become a Glambert but nowadays she likes him more than a few years ago and she respects my fangirling now! And, like you, she became more tolerant and so did I! Like you said, I always try to understand other persons and their hobbies or passions now without laughing about them or questioning everything or prejudging them! And I really hope that your family and friends will respect your Adam-stanning, too and that they will be more interested in Adam one day! Re. my friends I have to say that some of them like (but don’t love!) Adam and some of his songs but they often say “He could be more successful, if only he would change his look and behave more normal on stage”! They find it weird that he wears makeup or paints his nails or that he wears flamboyant outfits from time to time. And they also don't like to watch some of the old GNT videos in which he kissed Tommy or made sexy moves. How sad that some people are so conservative and uptight and rate these things higher than Adam's talent! I’m glad that Adam is so unique and not like all the other boring artists out there in the entertainment world!

This is a great photo. I was thinking that Adam was probably really smart to keep Melvin for the Elvis photo shoot because he will probably be one of just a few or maybe no one else who have a Melvin and he will stand out!
