Oh, animated. You art is so beautiful! and thanks to all others who are enjoying these stuff... Just a whiff of new music .. and I am in a frenzy of conjuring everything Adam... I wonder if there will be a music which will make people sit up and say >>> That's an Adam Lambert music ... I wonder if Adam can create his own brand of music...something that will stir up people's imagination and set him apart... he can sing anything... so maybe everything will be his brand.. Sigh..What do I know about these things... I only know what I like.. |

Q3, yup, you said everything I was about to say, just better because you also backed it up with charts.
This top 10 list really gives hope that success is possible with a great song.
Now I have one question: How does this BB top 10 compare to radio top 10 or better top40?
If I look at this radio chart (says May 2013, does not give a specific date), I think that radio does not yet play follow the leader, but rather continues to live on planet: We play whatever has been sufficiently paid for/promoted and plays well with our bosses.
But do folks who follow radio charts more regularly see any of the trends evolving, that we were predicting: i.e. a time where radio is not a trend setter, but rather a follower?
Here now this May 2013 top40 radio list that I was looking at:

2 15 Macklemore Can't Hold Us (feat. Ray Dalton)
3 1 Demi Lovato Heart Attack

But yes to it being a new era.
- Streaming services and youtube count and will give the fan base more influence.
- Pop music trends have become even more diverse than they were two years ago
- Adam will do different topic and different music, making it a whole new ballgame
- RCA hopefully will support with its promotion team the same strategy set forth by A&R (in my mind these two were not in sync for Trespassing and did not communicate/hand off well enough) and the management change at RCA may partially be at fault here that this did not happen in a more streamlined form. Hopefully this does not happen again.
ETA: Just trying to fix the stupid formatting. In preview mode it did none of the nonsense done here now. Proboards definition of WYSIWYG is distinctly different from mine, I must say....grrrrr

So many accolades above from writers who appreciate Adam's talent as much as we do, but as others have similarly mentioned, the line in the Billboard article about Trespassing and Kickin In being "megahits in a fairer pop universe" made me sad. Sometimes I wonder which is a tougher battle for superstardom for Adam, the fact that he is gay or the fact that he was on AI. The female AI alumni seem to have had a little easier time gaining widespread mainstream acceptance. In fact, although Kelly, Carrie and Jennifer were everywhere on the Grammys the last few years, I can't think of another man from Idol who is a household name. Its a double edged sword. Adam has himself said many times that without Idol he would never have been given a record deal because of his sexuality. Unfortunately, in an industry where vocal talent should matter above all else, it often doesn't matter very much at all. This pisses me off, but at least I can say that although they're also not related to his voice, his good looks and charisma have been good for his career! As much as it makes me cringe with jealousy to say this, I think P2 is on his way to becoming a household name. Why? Because I can't turn around without hearing his songs and from what I have been reading, he is getting international interest/gigs (England, France, Rock in Rio). He has a smash hit, another possible one on its way, and a soon-to-be platinum album. He has achieved success outside of the bubble. At a recent family gathering, "Home" came on the TV, and people starting singing along and my 20 something niece was saying "Oooh, I love this song". I recently got together with girlfriends I had not seen in years, and one of them started flailing about P2 much in the same way I do over Adam. None of them give Adam the time of day. IMO, Adam lost some credibility by not getting a platinum album in the US, which is still the #1 market. At least that is the most prevalent comment I see when haters try to assert that he is a flop. They don't care about international sales. Can't tell you how many times I've seen comments that Scotty is more successful than Adam merely because he has a platinum album. Almost platinum is just not good enough. And I think he could have easily gotten it had Cumulus stations added his songs the same time everyone else did. WWFM could have easily been a smash and IIHY could have at least been platinum, which would have fueled sales for the album. With two big hit singles, he would not be perceived by some as a one hit wonder (another thing haters like to bring up although not technically true) and I think PDs would have been more likely to play him during the TP era. Of course it didn't help that the choices of singles weren't the best but I heard some mediocre songs become hits just because they were played over and over again just based on who the artist was. Anyway, JMHO, YMMV. This is heartbreaking. I also don't understand why the numbers on FYE have not moved. Surely more units have been selling. Does RCA continue to track this? It obviously would make a difference if it went platinum. |

At this point, FYE going platinum is not going to create new buzz for Adam. He needs new music that connects with radio.
In terms of Phillip Phillips, he may be an Idol alum, but he has broken out of the bubble and appears to have developed an audience in the very radio- desirable younger demographic. My cousin who is a college sophomore loves both his singles. Major props to Phillip, Interscope, and whoever else was responsible for "Home.". This was an example of perfect timing---Phil just rode in on the Mumford and Sons/Lumineers wave, and it worked.

FYE, the single is close to Gold. Trespassing did not do what it should have but I am not going to get into how badly RCA screwed that up. As far as P2 being in Rio (if he recovers from being very, very ill) it is because he is (might) be touring with John Mayer. Home was a good song. It would have gone platinum without the Olympics. With the Olympics, it got a huge boost. Right now his second single is riding on the success of a 4X platinum single. Oh, and even with that, it has taken it 4 months to start getting any Top 40 radio adds. P2 is riding on his post year of Idol success. He has Interscope as his label which seems to be able to get radio play easier than RCA does  . Oh and with a 4X platinum single, his album is still not platinum. Will it? Sure, because it is close. Is he filling up venues, on his own, of 5K-19K size. Nope! And I'll bet he never will! Let's see how P2 does with album #2. Excuse me now while I go back to twitter and flail over Adam's new photos! |

Actually , and I'm not lying here , in Syria , EVERYBODY knows who Adam Lambert is . (the young generation and the old generation who likes pop english songs)
And Adam does get played on TV , I see his music videos . I've NEVER seen P2's videos here , nor have I heard of the song , and , you know what ? I only know of him because YOU GUYS talk about him .
Nobody knows about him here , in this far far away , third-class country . I've never ever ever heard his song , or seen his name on TV . Everybody knows about Adam Lambert . The Rock God . In fact , you know what ? the Adam Lambert AI season WAS THE ONLY SEASON AIRED HERE ON MBC4 . No seasons after that . Makes you think , eh ?
Sorry , but Adam is more of a household name than that guy .
Actually , I think that guy is not even WORTH MENTIONING HERE .
Let's get back to Adam and his super-mega-stardom .

Can someone please tell me how to save pics to my computer. I have in the past, but can't seem to do it now. They save to "my documents" but when I try to see them, all I see is the dreaded X in the upper left corner. I am on IE dialup and never had this problem in the past.
