Words fail....................... The Russian Parliament voted 436-0, ZERO, to outlaw all mention, support, etc of gay rights or anything related. Damn - just like the good old days. I don't think Adam will be visiting Russia anytime soon.

I just was reading quotes from Gandhi and this one struck me with the turmoil that will occur in Russia because of this censoring. My heart goes out to all who are being persecuted. I think this will backfire in a most costly way. Humans never learn. |

So, will a show like the Tony's not be shown anymore in Russia, because it is too gay? Will the internet version of yesterday's opening not be accessible anymore in the future? It sure won't be as easy for Russia to isolate itself this time around, as it was in the 50s and 60s. So much more openness and access for all. By the way, the version with over 2 million hits was taken down, but CBS now has their own video up. The scarlet letter. Outlaws of Love. All so relevant messages. And here in the US we are also just taking two steps forward and then one back again. It is a longer process than just a few years. Clearly Adam is thinking in terms of 15 - 20 years as well on an afternoon like today. He impresses me today still every bit as much as he did four years ago when I first heard him speak (and sing). And rama, I love every time you post, because yours is one of my favorite avis. Adam is radiant and shines bright like a diamond, and that in spite of all the difficulty that surrounded the week in which this picture was taken. He is, was and always will be a true star. |
