6.24.13 Adam sings SSB at Broadway Bares benefit

 PHOTOS: This year’s Broadway Bares, the unofficial kickoff to Gay Pride Week in New York City, featured appearances and performances by Judith Light  Billy Porter, Alan Cumming, Andy Cohen, Max von Essen, Christopher Sieber, and Adam Lambert last night.  Thousands gathered downstairs and up in the VIP mezzanine of Roseland Ballroom for two raucous road trips exploring the United States in the hit burlesque show.  This year’s theme, “United Strips of America”, was directed by Nick Kenkel, and produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, one of the nation’s leading industry-based nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organizations.  Queerty skipped the crowd upstairs and snuck downstairs to hang out with the performers between their numbers.

Karma…

As everyone got settled in here at Adamtopia’s new home yesterday, there was a lot of talk about karma. It is definitely a little disconcerting to see one’s karma score displayed in black and white for all to see. But while we may have fretted about our own, the consensus about Adam’s was clear—his karma is excellent.

At the social media summit on Friday, Adam said, “Life is a game and you have to have a strategy.” Taken out of context, that sounds a bit cold However, considering what we know of Adam and his approach to life, it’s anything but.

Whether you call it strategy, the Golden Rule, or life philosophy, it’s all the same thing. You put out good energy and treat people well, and you will often get good energy and good treatment back. It is such a simple yet profound truth that most religions and spiritual practices take it as their foundation. Living it day-to-day is another thing altogether, and yet we have Adam as a living, breathing example that it can be done. Whether it is supporting his own friends, sending kudos to other artists, advocating for charity, or simply treating everyone with whom he interacts with courtesy and respect, Adam knows that you get back what you give away.

I don’t think Adam sits around calculating how being a good person will get him further in his career. I do think that his philosophy also happens to be an excellent career strategy. Not to mention, it’s not a bad way to go through life. And regardless of the outcome tonight, we all know that Adam wins at life. :D
