For this politics watcher, this has been one of the best mornings in a long time. Not only is DOMA struck down and Prop 8 deemed unconstitutional, but at least for today the historic filibuster by Wendy Davis to prevent enactment of SSB5 was successful with the loud and raucous intervention of the gallery. If there is one thing Texans are good at, it is being loud and raucous. It was down to minutes. Yes!! The women of Texas were AMAZEBALLS last night!

Friendly reminder:
You'll probably be hearing too much of me today. I'm waiting in a hospital with nothing to do. No big health concerns-don't worry. Just tests.

Junie, do we know yet if this affects marriage/citizenship/domicile issues with foreign nationals? It is my understanding that any specific support for the rights of same-sex couples was dropped from the pending immigration bill. However, this ruling forces the federal government to treat legal same-sex marriages the same as opposite-sex marriages. So if the foreign national is legally married to the American, they have to be treated the same. If not, then the relationship still has no legal standing. Damn...that means we will likely lose Rufus Wainwright again as now he can bring his husband to the US...they were married in NewYork.....they have been living in Toronto. jk
