As I see it or IMHO .. On The quiet from Adam about his album #3. Album 1 was done in a hurry and had a little bit of this and that.. trying to recapture the diversity of music he was able to sing on American Idol.Adam was also at the height of his popularity just coming off TV for weeks and doing shows around the country. Album #2 concept apparently changed in the middle due to Pharrell's influence. This change led to the album coming out late and fans being upset. rumors galore, etc. Missed PR opportunities all the way around . In the middle of this PR Adam toured with Queen and was out of the country. My feeling about album #3 is that Adam doesn't really know what direction to go in..Let's face it ,the pressure has to be enormous after Trespassing didn't get much radio play or big numbers. In a way nobody from the team seemed to know how to sell this highly original & personal album. Not being able to put Adam in a special box makes it difficult,he doesn't follow one genre. IMHO I think Adam really wants to be free to experiment before making a final commitment to that third CD.He has said when asked, that he is not ready to talk about his new album.. That he is thinking it through and listening to lots of music. Can you imagine how hard it must be to come up with a concept and then find songs to fit that concept.. With all of that, you have to try to please yourself, the artist, the suits at RCA the fans.. and RADIO. Your life's blood is on the line. I have to be patient ,although I'm curious. As a fan,I don't want to add to the boiling pot of creative/financial pressure.I don't believe this has been an easy year for ADAM ,he lost out on doing a world concert, the album, his baby didn't soar and now a new album. Will POP music be where he ends up? How will the new album represent POP.. Adam may be at a cross roads in his career. He went from Idol to hardly stopping in the last few years...#reflection time? Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Mels:) Here are my thoughts on some of the questions you brought up: Re the pressure: it has always been the pressure cooker kind of situation for Adam, I think. For every album, for some of the concerts... He is a champ at dealing with such situations, they're perfectly normal. Re the pleasing everybody bit: I think Adam is not so stupid to not take opinions of others into consideration, but not that stupid to let those opinions turn him into an indecisive, conformist and, by concequence, mediocre kind of artist. As he said, balance is the key. He happens to be very good at this, as well:) Also, there's this: Pharrell Williams@pharrell I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody. – Bill CosbyI think Adam knows this:) Re the creativity, concepts and directions: oh boy:) If I know anything about him, creativity is what he has never had trouble with and never will. That is his area of expertise, what he does, what he is. He keeps shooting ideas out like glitter bombs out of his... whatever, and as he said, creativity is a process, as it should be, so we as his fans have to understand that. You can't rush it no matter what. The creative process is also something he is pretty perfect at:) Re the labels: I'm gonna go with Adam here who has expressed his satisfaction with the support he got from RCA. So, if he stays with them, fine, if he moves to Interscope, even better! Re the Halperin article: in spite of it being poorly written and unsubstantiated, it made us worry, which is normal. Worst of all, it made some of Adam's fans who are never around during celebratory times ( of which there were PLENTY) come out of the woodwork and angst all over the cyber space and I hate it for that, not for anything else. Re the all covers album: it is such a complete and utter bollocks! Like some of the sillinesses we entertain ourselves with on April 1st here. To conclude, there is nothing to worry about, and a lot of to look forward to:) ETA/// I just realised I talked about some things Melliemom didn't even bring up, and I apologise for that. Also, I would like to add that I stand by that Glambert motto, I will support him no matter what.

Also, if he feels his team is not behind his project he will find another team and they will be more than willing to back his enormous talent. Thanks again!

80's, it was great music. Adam loves and respects music, which is practically his life. Whatever he sings is just amazing, and we know it. What I want for Adam, is that he was happy and creative.. Listening to his intuition to follow his passion .. the rest is easy ... he has it all .. Have happy and fun day, guys, Good nigh,

Interesting post Melliemom.... I completely agree with this: And maybe that is exactly why that article from Shirley seemed so off base to me. She apparently was unaware of what he has said about A3 and did not really seem to give Adam any credit for how much he is involved in the creative process and setting his own direction. ** Thinking about the three projects, I think Adam probably has the least pressure on A3. Setting that aside, for all the discussion about what direction Adam should take, he is not like Bowie -- a shape shifter who sheds his persona. He has remained constantly Adam since we first saw him on Idol. What Adam lacks is a clear market position as a recording artist. And looking at the difference between RCA's vision for the Trespassing era (BTIKM, NCOE, adult pop -- yawn -- boring) and Adam's vision (Trespassing -- not sure what genre it is -- interesting, complex, meaningful, not designed for radio), I am pleased that there is apparently some discussion about focusing on a concept for A3. Whatever else, Adam will be Adam. He will put together the album he wants, record a couple tracks for RCA A&R, and will be fine. And maybe if the planets align, will put out a single that fits the moment and burns up the radio charts. I am not expecting this. I just want/need more new Adam music. ** Last night I re-listened to Adam's Idol performance of Tracks of my Tears. Even if he does an entire album of covers, I would be happy with an album of covers by Adam -- because they would all be Adamized.

Really good, thoughtful post melliemom. I won't quote it again as it's already been quoted several times. But a lot of what you said makes sense to me. Having said that I don't have much to add on the subject as I have no idea what Adam is thinking or feeling or what his expectations are for A3. I also have no idea if there is even a grain of truth in that SH article. Or why she would write such a PA article with no information at all (assuming she had none). I also have no idea why Shoshanna hasn't shot down the 80's cover speculation or corrected the misinformation about Trespassing sales. Perhaps she's too busy with her other artists or perhaps she doesn't consider THR significant. In short - I know nothing. So - just waiting like the rest of you. One thing though: I do not think it's a good idea for RCA/Adam to drag this out too long. That was ONE of the problems with TSP. If it's true that they're still discussing the direction of the album, well I find that a bit scary.

If you go back and listen to Adam's 5 part interview with Slezak, it is pretty amazing how Adam is Adam. I have to add that I think 2011 was his very reflective time. The result was Trespassing which really let us see into Adam's life. I think his 2nd album probably carried the most pressure. And it was a huge success! A wonderful album with incredibly positive critical reviews. My hope is that #3 is as good. And that this time, his label "gets" him and "gets" his fans. He knows what we want, and he has his pulse on popular music. He knows what the new now next thing will be. Like using Pharell and Nile a full year before they had their "comebacks." Now if only the label would catch up to his thinking! If only!
