If you do not follow GLEE, there are a lot of possible roles Adam could have. The show now has three distinct story lines….

In New York City the show is based in a fictional school of the arts (NYADA) where Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Rachel (Lea Michele) are students. So Adam could be a teacher there.

Rachel auditioned for a Broadway production of Funny Girl at the end of last season and Glee spoilers say that she will get the part. So Adam could play Julius W. "Nicky" Arnstein (he already has the mustache.

Kurt is an intern at Vogue.com so Adam could be in that story line.

Then there is William McKinley High School in Ohio – where Adam could be a teacher, coach, ??

Or maybe Adam will just play Adam Lambert. (See what he said about GLEE to THR posted below.) My money is on Adam will be playing the part of Adam Lambert, a pop star who was on Idol and a former theater kid.

We have no info about if the role is a series regular, recurring or guest spot.

Glee Season 5 premieres on Thursday, September 19 on FOX.

Glee just got cooler. Maybe not twenty percent cooler, but cooler nonetheless. Adam Lambert will be appearing in the fifth season of the Ryan Murphy hit show. Murphy tweeted “I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall.”

Just what part Lambert will be playing or what his role will be has yet to be announced. In fact, we’re not sure if he will be in the New York or Lima portion of the series. Still, for Lambert, the guest shot on the show is a wish come true. In 2012, he told the Hollywood Reporter that the would love to guest on the show as himself.

 Lambert said at the time that “I think there were murmurs about it. Hopefully, maybe now that I have some new music, I could go on there. I want to just be me. Why do I have to be a fictional character?”

Rumors have been swirling about the openly gay rock star appearing on the show since 2009.

For Lea Michele, the chance to duet with Lambert would be too much. She told MTV that “I love Adam Lambert! I want to sing with him so badly. If they don’t let me [sing with him] on the show, I would just in life. I just want to sing with him so badly. He’s just such an incredible vocal performer, and I’m such a huge fan.”

It isn’t the first time that Lambert has shown up in a scripted series. He appeared as himself in Pretty Little Liars season 3.

Lambert’s own work for the LGBT Community has paralleled that of Glee’s. Lambert has worked hard trying to push back against anti-LGBT bullying.

Adam Lambert Reveals Dream 'Glee' Gig; Respects Show's 'Brave Agenda'

The "American Idol" season 8 runner-up talks about the Fox show's appeal and what role he sees for himself on a future episode.

The American Idol season 8 runner-up thinks the Fox show is “so cute” in that it “really paints a picture of what it’s like to be an arts kid in high school. Glee is really irresistible -- it's charming.”

So where’s Lambert’s walk-on invite, Glee powers-that-be? “I don't know, ask them,” Lambert tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I think there were murmurs about it. Hopefully, maybe now that I have some new music, I could go on there.”

As for who he could potentially play? The answer should come as no surprise to the scores of Glamberts -- and to their delight. “I want to just be me,” he says. “Why do I have to be a fictional character?”

Still, Lambert freely admits he didn’t always feel so warm and fuzzy about the hit series. “When Glee first came out, I was like, ‘I don't really like this show,’” he says. “But now I watch it... And you know what? I do think the show has an agenda, but I respect the agenda. I think it's a very brave agenda to try to push. I think that they're one of the few people that are doing it. So it's definitely one of a kind and very revolutionary in that way.”
