Here is what we really know about Idol. 1. Idol will have 3 or 4 judges. 2. There will be at least one female judge. 3. There will be at least one white/anglo judge. 4. There will be one African American judge. Assume: They will not put 2 Idol alums on the panel. That means that IF there are 3 judges.. AND IF the country judge is male and white.... AND IF the female judge is. not black.... Adam will not be a judge. . If I remembered correctly on last year judging panel, the Wrap was the first one that exclude Adam's name on their article as well. My attitude this year towards Idol judges is what ever will be will be. I'm more interested in knowing when will we get the new label announcement. ??? ???

If this is true, it is much sadder for Idol than Adam. Adam will be just fine on his road to being iconic, but Idol passed up a chance to have an excellent panel that would help revive an aging show.

Truthfully, even if Adam were to be a judge, I don't trust the Idol PTB to turn around the negative buzz about this show. The reality is that the ratings are fine -- not the juggernaut they once were -- but still top 10, BUT the buzz is so negative and the meme is that the show is on downward slide. It would take a season-long, serious, well-planned commitment to change and excellence to turn it around. I have seen no evidence that idol then or now has the interest or capabilities to do so, nor that they even necessarily realize that they need to make real change. Given that, I'm not sure that I want Adam to be associated with a show that has such negative cultural buzz. You don't want to be associated with a show that is seen as past its prime, because it makes you look like a has-been by association.
But in the end, paying too much attention to the annual Idol judge angsting is like staring into the maw of the Kraken, instead of running for your life. You gotta know you're going to get sucked in and chewed up by the monster that is Idol decision-making.

I have to admit that Adam being a judge is sounding less probable, but JLo and Will.I.Am ??? Yuck!! It would be great if he did some mentoring because I think he really would shine there. Anyway, whatever happens, it will work out because the Universe has his back!!! ETA: Hahaha! Atop changed my question marks into an appropriate smilie! :D I agree JLo is pretty meh as a judge, but will.i.am is a sharp guy, very funny, knows the music business, and I've loved the Black Eyed Peas even before Fergie joined them. I think he could be good. I still wouldn't watch the show, though, unless Adam was a judge.

I agree Jean... Adam will be fine. I'm not sure I will though. I want Adam on my TV weekly.... oh wait. I want new music... oh wait. I want more Queenbert... oh wait. What I really want that I don't have yet, is Adam on tour all across this great country, and the world, so we can all share in the goodness that is Adam Lambert LIVE!! As far as the Idol judging saga... we'll know soon enough.

I think Adam is in a very different position today vs. last year. He really does not need Idol. And while no single person can save Idol, I truly believe Adam could be part of a rebooting of the show. But if the panel is JLo, Keith, will.i.am and ?, I do not want Adam to be part of the death march of Idol. Cause that panel will kill the show.

At least it seems that way to me.
