I have to admit that I had mixed feelings about Adam and Idol. I loved the old Idol (AI5-AI8) and would have liked to see the show reinvigorated. But I would not want to see him be part of a dysfunctional judging panel and another search of falling ratings. With this status quo panel, and Randy returning, and Jimmy returning, and so much same-old stuff, I think the ratings will drop another 20%+ and that makes it under 10 million viewers, all die hard Idol fans most of whom would never buy Adam's music or a concert ticket. JMHO -- I expect a WGWG "Christian" winner because that is the audience that will be left. I really hope I am wrong but just looks like they are treating Idol like a cash cow -- which they will milk dry for the next couple of years. Hmmm - See bolded part: Just what RCA was planning to do with Adam and an 80's rock album... Too bad there is no one at Fox who has the power or energy to really challenge all the self-interested folks involved there. Thank goodness Adam and his people are taking the leap! But FOX is the biggest pig at the Idol trough. They are the ones making the final decision on this. They must have decided that there was no way to change the show and increase ratings. Essentially, they will play it out for a couple of years.

I can't get too bummed out even if there is no label news either because frankly Adam has never looked happier. So whatever is going on in his career he does not seem to be stressing about it and that's all I need to know. Q3 commented that no one had considered the sessions with Avicii were for his album and not for A3 but I always thought that it was for Avicii's album but knew there was no guarantee that the track would make the cut. I may not have commented about it but to me it was much more likely to have been a potential Avicii cut rather than being on A3 and I know I saw at least a few others comment that way on twitter. I was actually really surprised that anyone thought it might be for A3. I agree, Adam is fine and happy. He does not fake it that well. ** Regarding Avicii -- perhaps someone posted it but all the posts I can find assumed it was an A3 demo session. And why not? April was before Avicii's album was announced -- WMU was released in June, 2013. Before that "Levels" and "I Could Be the One" were US Club hits -- no way to know that WMU was going to be so big. I can only speak for myself, with all the news and drama -- RCA, iHeartRadio MF/Queen, Glee, Idol -- I forgot about the deleted tweet about Avicii. In addition, I certainly had no idea Adam had separated from RCA in April. Because there is no chance they would let him do that collaboration. Finally, just to close the loop on one more unresolved item -- the LifeBall song release approval issue must have been Adam since he was no longer under the RCA contract. My guess is he knew LMD was coming and did not want to muck it up. Very smart. Just to clarify I know Avicii's album hadn't been announced but Nile had been tweeting already about working with Avicii on his album project so to me it felt like Nile bringing Adam in to sing on something they were working on for Avicii and that's exactly what Nile said happened. Maybe you had missed Nile's comments about the Avicii work. When Nile had tweeted about meeting up with Adam in LA a lot of fans were hoping it was about working on A3 but most of Nile's tweets were about sessions with Avicii. I thought then it was much too early in the A3 timeline to think it was an A3 session though I had hopes they were at least exploring the possibility. Then Nile tweeted something about inviting Adam to come hang with CHIC and write tunes so I figured they hadn't gotten as far as writing for A3.

If Adam isn't a judge this year can we have an Adam funganza next year instead of an Idol circus? Yes, please

Last year I felt awful about Adam not getting a spot on the panel, I just fine with it this year because he will get some TV exposure with Glee. We all now that TV is very important for Adam because it reaches a huge audience which Adam,at least in last era, can't reach through radio like most popular pop artists. Now I am crossing my fingers that he gets a nice meaty role that lets him shine.
About the label, I am starting to get a little concerned about lack of news since the break happened in April so it has been longer than I thought. I do believe he will land a label if he doesn't have one already because he has assets that would make him attractive. He is talented and widely acknowledged to be so. He is famous. He was in serious consideration to be on one major TV show, and has a part in another one. Blogs, paps and entertainment sites love him. He is able to draw a pretty decent crowd to his concerts. He has a lot of respect in the industry working with icons as well as recently, the new hot young star de jour. He has a very loyal fan base that was enough to land him a BB #1. We all know the major drawback was his last album did make RCA any money and might have lost it some. On the whole, I think the positives will out weigh the negative so I am not in hype worry mode, but will be very happy when new label in announced.

But if it is a cash cow, seems like they could have hired cheaper help than JLo and company.

That last sentence can be read in two different ways. I'm going for he already has a label.
