Instinct Magazine @instinctmagTwo gay men beaten during hate crime in Chelsea, NYC this a.m. More here: instinctmagazine.com/post/gay-men-beaten-nycs-chelsea-neighborhood … Gay Men Beaten In NYC's Chelsea Neighborhood Jonathan Higbee | August 14, 2013 NYC's world-renowned gay neighborhood of Chelsea was the setting for a senseless and appalling hate crime early Wednesday morning. Two men who were holding hands outside the Bow Tie Chelsea Cinema on 24th between 7th and 8th Avenues were approached by two other men shouting anti-gay slurs. As the derogatory shouts progressed, two more attackers joined in and the group proceeded to beat the gay men. Injuries sustained by the victims required hospital treatment, with one man in need of facial stitches due to a laceration suffered during the assault. NYC mayoral candidate Christine Quinn blasted the attack. “I am appalled by reports that two men were senselessly beaten in Chelsea simply because they were perceived to be gay," she said in a statement released this afternoon. "Holding hands as they walked down West 24th Street, they were assaulted as their attackers hurled anti-gay slurs," Christine Quinn, Speaker for the New York City Council, commented on the latest in a long string of anti-gay violence in New York. "The cowardly individuals who committed this crime do not represent New Yorkers and our community will not be cowed by such violence. New York City’s greatest strength is our diversity, and we will not stand for attacks against anyone, for any reason." - See more at: instinctmagazine.com/post/gay-men-beaten-nycs-chelsea-neighborhood#sthash.Ux4Tw8oS.dpuf

I'm trying to understand Canadian geography. The province is Quebec. The city for the Balloon Festival was Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC. Montreal is another city in the province of Quebec. According to Google, they are 47 km apart. I believe Adam's hotel was in Montreal. That is correct....what is confusing you? St Jean is a small area and Montreal has much more to offer in the way of dining, partying and especially shopping....and it is only about 30 minutes away...so the obvious place to stay! I think he and Sauli stayed a few days...we have pics of them cycling I remember. Montreal has a bike program there that lets you rent a bike and leave it where you go and then grab another to go to your next destination...other cities are starting to follow suit now. I know Vancouver city is talking of doing that.... eta....is it the QC that bothers you? That is the short form of Quebec. We also have a Quebec City in the province of Quebec, just as you have a NYC, NY. 47 km = 29 miles... Thanks. I believe I've got it now.

Idol always had a black judge with Randy on board, and with a 3 or 4 judge panel was enough to represent African Americans in the population. We Americans are well aware that we have a tragic racial history. I am reading an excellent book called First Class about the first black high school in US and it is reminding me of how awful blacks were treated not that long ago. I think we have come a long way in a short time, though we still have a long way to go. When trying to achieve racial diversity in things like Idol's judging panel, it is a reflection of our collective desire to help right the past and strive for a fairer nation that lives up a little more to our democratic ideals. We are very conscious of the goal of racial fairness, and look for it in the cultural experience we share like American Idol. Now people are starting to realize that the group which includes Adam needs to have better representation too.

Oh, sorry. I guess you're right. I guess the speculations here messed with my head:) No don't be sorry ,I think some folks feel that, musically speaking, a hispanic, a white and an African American judge should be represented, because of their popularity in POP music.. IMHO,It just doesn't work out that way though... I think that in the current US music world they will try to cover the three big genres -- pop/rock, country (done) and urban/R&B. I also think they will try to make the judges inclusive -- a woman, an hispanic/latino, and an African American. But most of all they will try to get judges that will be entertaining. Frankly, it is easy to do with four judges, or if they make Randy a regular mentor or whatever Jimmy is.

Interesting twitter conversation with Shoshanna.
Gelly @14gelly RT @ PattiHum: @ shoshanna stone What percent of your job is rumor control, would you say? Gelly @14gellyRT @ shoshanna stone: @ PattiHum a lot. Sometimes helping them spread, other times putting a stop to them Gelly @14gelly RT @ PattiHum: @ shoshanna stone Ahh, the spreading part, I see. But your clients are so positive. Not as much "squashing?" shoshanna stone @shoshannastone @pattihum ha ha. Not the case. Maybe a story we don't want spreading even if not bad, maybe a story that isn't true but out there, maybe shoshanna stone @shoshannastone@pattihum not the right time for it or we want to tell it a different way. Lots of reasons to control a story ETA: shoshanna stone @shoshannastone

Gelly @14gelly
RT @ shoshanna stone: @ Patti Hum just part of the job the right coverage at the right time.
Rumor control for Adam in a week time. I bet Shirley contacted DMG/Shoshanna for the rumor before she released the first article on Monday. Shoshanna did a great job to take the attention away from the 80s cover rumor. Monday: THR - The rumor of 80s cover Wednesday: Ryan Murphy twitted about Adam's joining Glee Friday: THR - Adam walks out of his contract with RCA Monday: iHeartradio concert announcement - Queen + Adam Lambert
