Keith Caulfield @keith_caulfield One of the drag performers in @ladygaga's lyric video for "Applause" says none of them "agreed" to be in video: twitter.com/TheOnlyDetox/status/367452045055238144 … Detox @theonlydetox@theeyeofgaga uhmmm she showed up with a camera at the show I was performing at. We had no clue. Think they can sue Gaga for money for using them on her lyric video? Detox.. doesn't Adam know him/her?

When I've gone to things being recorded like TV shows or concerts there are always either releases you sign, or at least warnings that you will be on camera and if you don't want to be on camera, then don't be there!! Gaga recording them, then making a video that is making money for her sounds very, very shady and unprofessional!

We had no clue. Wow, Gaga, that is really bad!! There may have been an area release that was posted in the place stating that there would be filming going on, and some people may not have seen it, but it would still cover them. Still, it's bad not to have performers sign a release.

From the standpoint of someone who doesn't live in such a diverse society, and therefore doesn't have a clue, I have to say that this whole AI judgeship insistence on including all major ethnicities seems a bit vulgar to me. Like members of Hispanic etnicity won't watch if they're not represented? I don't get it. It's like some kind of reverse racism, or anti-racism gone wrong. Sorry for the heavy word. Is it some kind of an unspoken rule or is it contractual? Or is it just business, something they find most profitable? I don't know... it feels wrong to me. I wouldn't say it's so much a system or reverse discrimination, but being representative of the racially and culturally diverse society we live in. If the panel included different races and sexual orientations but was made up only of men, I think girls and women would say, "WTF? Do the producers think there aren't any women knowledgable and qualified to be AI judges???" This show is about making dreams come true for people who may not ever get such a platform anywhere else as they do on AI. And if I'm black, Hispanic, female, gay, white, Asian, whatever, I want to see people "who looks like me" (figuratively speaking) as both contestants and as judges. That says to me, "Hey, they did it, maybe I can, too!" Well, not ME personally, but all those young viewers who have aspirations of making it as a singer. It's not an unspoken rule; it's being fair, it's being inclusive, and it's good marketing. If they didn't have a diverse panel, people would complain about that instead. If given a choice, I'd rather err on the side of being inclusive and take crap for that from people who don't know any better. I'm sure every judge on the show tries to be as unbiased and open as possible to every contestant and type of music performed, but perception is reality in the minds of the audience and the singers. Having a diverse panel as they do is a matter of respect and fairness. It's not like they went out on the street and grabbed some black guy and said, "You'll do, now our quota is filled." THAT would be disrespectful. If I was hired as a judge (or in any other capacity) based primarily on my sex, race, or sexual preference and NOT on my knowledge, experience, abilities, etc. I would be really offended.
