Loved the vids on page 1 re Mary Lambert. Thanks for the insight. Since Adam I've become rather one dimensional re new music. She is definitely a "find" and I'm glad you brought her to my attention!

I agree with a lot of that, but Miley is NO underdog. In fact, I would lump her in with Bieber as yet another young person surrounded by a bunch of wussy adults who don't know how to tell her "NO." And they aren't helping her. She is a 21 yr. old with far too much money, fame, and ego and far too little common sense (and self respect, obviously) Not defending Bieber or Miley, but they did not have your typical upbringing, where they went to middle school and high school, socialized with other kids, participated in sports and had boundaries set for them by parents. They were homeschooled on sets, or in studios, and have no concept of appropriaate socialization, and most of all do not understand boundaries or curfews. They have been catered to and coddled, and now in the adult world they do not have concepts of boundaries. This is all unfortunate, but both will learn the hard way, at some pretty heavy prices. Money does not buy what they need, but they sure have a lot of it. Totally agree. And that is what makes it so sad---the complete cluelessness with no adult willing to clue them in ETA---Mary Lambert is awesome. I am still wondering why someone felt the need to bring in Jennifer Hudson

Every thing that is wrong with Miley's performance is what is wrong with that song in the first place. What Miley did was just a visual of the lyrics of the song "Blurred Lines" and yet people love the song but are horrified at Miley. That's just nuts. Song of the summer?!

Add on top of this the NSFW video where the girls are actually mostly naked as opposed to wearing flesh colored bikinis and you have a complete picture of the preferred male/female balance of power from the male perspective. (yes, yes, I know, not all guys but ...) Also, my respect for Pharrell has been significantly diminished by this song and video.
As far as Miley simulating sex with a foam finger ... it is really not that different from Adam stroking his mike. No problem for me but I will say that I have seen more naked tongue than I want to see for a very long time.

I don't really understand why people would be horrified by the visual that goes along with the lyrics. Is that just an indication that people don't listen to lyrics anyhow?.... Or was there actually an equal amount of outcry about the song lyrics before this?

Or was there actually an equal amount of outcry about the song lyrics before this? There was some outcry with regard to the NSFW video but it was eclipsed by the success of the song. I don't think people do listen to lyrics that much, they just want something bopping. I have often wondered if I would stop watching an actor if I discovered a moral/political compass that varied greatly from mine. When does that take away the pleasure of the song/movie? I do at least think about it and 'Blurred Lines' crossed the line for me, just like reading about Orson Scott Card will probably keep me from going to see Ender's Game, a book I loved.

Also I want to thank bridgeymah for pointing out the ridiculousness of that song before I ever got the chance to start liking it. That saved me some soul-searching and I got to go straight to righteous indignation.

Thanks Miachiu! would love to see his shows, any idea how we might here in the US of A? And a possible new show in the the US? Any idea what that might be? Well, Zinnia and I are going to do at least partial translations or summaries of the programs and post them to SC. In addition, I'm going to try and upload the programs to YouTube if I don't get into trouble with the copyrights - the channels might be watching after those pretty tightly. Some of the programs on those channels can be seen in web-TV, and we'll post the link with the translation if it's available. I'm not sure, though, if it can be watched outside Finland, so we'll have to wait and see how it goes.
