Contrarian means "against the grain", taking a position opposite popular opinion. In many ways, I'm a contrarian. Oh, like wheat??? (all credit for this post goes to..Mr. Adam Lambert!)

When you think of where Adam has come from - the Zodiac shows, the drag shows, the underground, alternative club scene, etc. what Miley did was nuthin'. Really tame. If anything, I would expect Adam to be more "offended" by some of the singing (or lack thereof) on the show than any of the moves and costumes. Remember, Adam stripped nude at 21 years old in "Hair." The guy has seen and probably been involved with some serious "kink" onstage. Adam has also experienced his legion of fans writing and tweeting about his glambulge, throwing sex toys at him, screaming at him to take his clothes off, screaming at every sexy body roll he does on stage, tweeting about the sexual things they want to do to/with him... he is very used to being objectified as a sex "toy." So, he would not think it strange or wrong for the gals to do it too. It's part of the business. It's all performance. Adam is all for artistic freedom, no matter whether it fits his personal taste or not. I LOVE this post..thanks, Cassie!

Just flying in from my alternate universe to let you know that nonotme and I have found each other at Burning Man.
Here we are, with about 50+ thousand other decorated, costumed travelers, and we almost collided with our bikes on the playa!
Adamtopians, we will represent!! 'Tresspassing' blazing from my player at Station 9.

I'm going to take a departure from the Miley thread for a sec...yes, I've read Adam's tweets. He speaks his mind. Did anyone notice that Adam has started a new fashion style??? THE AUTO-UNBUTTON! His buttons are on a timer. One by one those little buttons slide out, ever so sneaky, mind...until by the end of the night, he's almost down to full chest. It started with a tweet in Miami folks!! I can't believe with all the viewing of Adam Lambert, nobody discovered this before Viv??? I mean, I'm all about the eyes, myself. Wish he had an ad out to hire a sleeve stroker, because that silk must have been yummy. And I know some of you are more 'southerners' but I'd be happy with a sleeve. The patterning was exquisite. Adam looked divine. I loved the shoes. I WILL say this once...a trimmed Melvie can be and was attractive. Doomed, I am...I supported Melvin. My god..what silk suits will do to rational thought. He was a class act all evening. The End...cause I dislike award shows with a passion of a thousand whiskers..

I think Anderson Cooper summed up my thoughts on Miley very nicely last night on the Ridiculist ac360.blogs.cnn.com/category/the-ridiculist/MTV, AMAs should just slap 18+ warnings on these shows so parents can be warned, and then Miley & Adam could just defend their performances based on their merits, not their effects on children. Thanks for bringing this to Atop. Anderson is right. Miley has been doing this over and over and MTV/VMA has been doing this every year and will never changed. They will not cater to some of viewers. That's why we have what we call it Parental Control. If parents have seen something like or close to this last year why should they complain about it this year? If you guys remember JLo did the same thing to her collaborator (forgot his name) on Idol/Fox the EXACT same thing Miley did to Robin Thicke. Maybe Miley's also trying to show how ridiculous it was . But I agree with you, we've seen all these in almost every music awards, they should just put an 18+ warnings.

Adam mention in INSIDE EDITION on ABC re: his tweet about Miley just having fun and to cut her some slack. The rest of other celebrities they mentioned were slamming Miley.

I'm with Adam on this Miley/Robin controversy. Despite the 16 year age difference they are both adults and no one got hurt. If there is anyone who should be offended it's Robin's wife and Miley's boyfriend. I presume they both gave permission and see the performance as an 'act' and nothing more. Personally it made me feel uncomfortable but I think that was the point.
I found some of Rhianna's acts more offensive, as they seem to glorify war and guns. In Europe I don't think Miley's performance would have had anyone bat an eyelid. Remember that naked man on the EMA's when Adam performed with Queen?
Lewd, tacky and tasteless maybe, but there are more important things going on in the world that deserve our attention.
