The AMA's.. almost lost me as a fan. It wasn't the content of what happened, I was totally cool with that. The pitchy singing, I felt badly for Adam, I too wanted everyone to know unmistakably how awesome he was..it was the aggression. It surprized me. I was not expecting that from Adam. But , in hindsight I now understand completely where the build up came from. Glad I stayed .

Btw , Was Adamtopia up and running (Well , I guess it was PF at that time) When the AMA's happened ? How many pages did the thread go ? LOL !! And , whether it was up and running , or not , how was YOUR reaction (After the initial "WTAF just happened" moment) . I wasn't a Glambert back then , So I didn't watch live . And when I googled Adam Lambert , read thru his Wiki page , read about the controversy of that performance , and THEN I watched it on youtube . I didn't get to experience the "Shock" . I already knew what he did cuz I read it on Wikipedia first , LOL . So , Glamberts who experienced the live thing , what was your HONEST first reaction ? (We all love Adam here , we are All Glambert , and we are a Glamily . Share your true feelings here , nobody is gonna judge) My honest first reaction was not a popular one. the content was fun, the singing may or may not have been off and not up to his usual standard. but... his demeanor to me was truly scary, so don't let anyone tell you he can not act.

Kamar, the AMAs were how I found Adam. It was the first time I ever saw him. I don't like American Idol and had never watched it. I got a huge big laugh out of this kid from American Idol getting off his leash and blowing up a network TV show with a gay burlesque number. Then I felt sorry for him because so many people were picking on him and savaging him in the press and it didn't seem fair. I also thought he was good looking, and I was charmed by the way he and his mom came across in the fallout that followed the performance. I decided to find out if there was more to him and found that there was. Of course !! hahaha . Wal , you were at MJ's ? Share what your first reaction was !!

You are right , too . Maybe he WASN'T acting . He was mad , remember ? He was all like "Is this gay enough for you , mofo's ?" LOL . And yes it was kinda scary . It's actually amazing how he just set that stage on fire , With that evil look in his eyes , and his aggressively sexy attitude , and then you watch another video where he's just too adorably cute . It's like he has a split personality , or something like that . Or maybe he's just a damn good actor . I want bad Adam baaaaack ...........Maybe on glee ?

My first reaction to the AMA performance- I was horrified and almost sick to my stomach at the fear that his career was over almost before it started. I hated the crotch/face smoosh - then the almost violent kiss and the grabbing at the woman's crotch and then he slipped and fell and then the grand finale of his hostile facial expression along with the finger. I do think that by the time he fell, he was out of it and running on adrenalin. He said he cried after that and I believe he did. I was stunned and disappointed and was so glad none of my family was watching with me. I had to re-evaluate my fandom and decided this man was worth it all. I am thankful that RCA stood behind him and Oprah, for one, had his back. Ellen too. I love those women for that. I know some loved that performance. For me, I get that sick feeling just reliving it today.
And I know fans who wrote him off that night and never gave him another chance. I have heard some say, well, he didn't need those fans anyway. Yes he did - they were just stunned and confused that this person was the man they supported and they couldn't see past that performance to the man we know and love. I feel bad about that.

I didn't know what to think, very confused, I was glad my family didn't watch the show with me, but my daughter did call me about it, and to this day she is still not a fan. eta: Yes, the word I was looking for was "stunned".

I think many of us were really stunned. Up until this show and this performance [with the exception of the actual finale and not winning] Adam had been praised and feted, hugely. It is surprising to me when he is painted to be unfairly treated by Idol because prior to the AMA performance, he was feted as I suspect no idol ever. He was set up with all the A list producers, had multiple magazine fashion shoots and covers...really, he could have not been more accepted or anticipated....the excitement was palpable. And now he was going to close out the AMA's...and at this point, did not even have a record out! [or was it just out....forget exact timeline there as it was days...].
I don't know what was the most shocking....it was not the kiss particularly...it was the fall and the singing....he looked rushed and out of control, the singing was not good...that song isn't even in his optimal key....the whole thing was a hot mess compared to what we expected. I remember just sitting there with that horrendous pit of empty in my stomach and I did not talk to anyone about it. I literally did not know how to feel. I was so afraid for him and at the possible loss of everything he had worked so hard for. We were not even 100% sure the fall was not part of the choreography.
For me, the most offensive part was pulling the 'string' on the woman's crotch....I could not believe the young man I cared so much about, would do that....it took me a while to work that one out....still don't really 'get' it, like the use of 'cunt' and 'cunty'...I just can't help being offended by that, but it is my issue. The rest of it was more about concern for him and his future, and how he must be feeling.
Thank goodness that is all history now...but there is no doubt it really set him back, and set him up for much of the difficulties he faced later. I barely slept that evening....kept waking up and 're-living' the fall, and the anger on his face! For just a minute, we seemed to have lost our sweet sweet Adam and an angry, aggressive male was puffing up....shudder. Thank goodness the sweet thing was the real Adam...but it was just a little ambiguous that evening, for 2 or 3 minutes....
Just my experience...

Glambert Instagrammed the surreptitious snap with the slug “Red velvet diva @iggyazalea I had to snap a shot…” LOVE IT.” We have to say we’re proud of the Aussie Artist to Watch nominee for chowing down on a slice of red-velvet cake. We haven’t eaten anything bigger than a Tic Tac in public in ten years. In fact, Iggy really went to town, scarfing down some fried chicken while One Direction‘s Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding, and Rita Ora mugged for the cameras. Lesson learned: Do not get inbetween Iggy Azalea and her carbs!

(We all love Adam here , we are All Glambert , and we are a Glamily . Share your true feelings here , nobody is gonna judge) I remember being horrified. I was actually camping, and from the campsite, we drove to a casino that had a TV in the bar just to see him. I was shocked at not only the suggestive dance moves, but the anger and the bad singing. I guess I had never seen suggestive moves like that in any previous music award shows, simply because I don't really watch them (for example, I never saw the show where Pink did a similar move). My DH said he didn't think the singing was that bad and that he was not given the credit for the difficult runs that he did do. He didn't seem to be as bothered (he is from the UK) and a good friend of mine from NY said she didn't see what the big deal was. I remember crying that evening, wondering if Adam has ruined his career. Deep down inside, I am still feeling like it did hurt his career. I remember being pleasantly surprised though that his initial album sales were still high. And although he lost fans I think he gained some who would have never heard of him before. BTW, I cry over Adam quite often. I've never been a stan of anyone so it's very odd that some stranger can evoke such emotion in me. The part about the Miley thing that really bothered me was the grinding with Robin Thicke. I think it's more because he's old enough to be her father. It just made me go "Ewwww".
