Btw , Was Adamtopia up and running (Well , I guess it was PF at that time) When the AMA's happened ? How many pages did the thread go ? LOL !! And , whether it was up and running , or not , how was YOUR reaction (After the initial "WTAF just happened" moment) . I wasn't a Glambert back then , So I didn't watch live . And when I googled Adam Lambert , read thru his Wiki page , read about the controversy of that performance , and THEN I watched it on youtube . I didn't get to experience the "Shock" . I already knew what he did cuz I read it on Wikipedia first , LOL . So , Glamberts who experienced the live thing , what was your HONEST first reaction ? (We all love Adam here , we are All Glambert , and we are a Glamily . Share your true feelings here , nobody is gonna judge) It was Planet Fierce at the time. The night and two days after the AMAs were the hardest I have ever worked. We had two different types of threads -- public thread with about 50 pages and four "Members only" threads with over 320 pages. About 60% of the posts were before the performance, then there was about 100 pages of 80% of which was fans saying Adam's career was over or crying. But in at all, fans started to rally, and got the idea that he would be OK. Within 24 hours we started to get album sales info -- it was selling, stores were running out of stock, it was actually not devastation on Planet Fierce. By day 3, most members started to realize that it was going to break in Adam's favor. Many in the gay press started to support him for the first time. We know the rest. For me, the bad part was that the AMA singing was not so good. It was a very different story on the Idol blogs. The Kris and Danny and Cook fans were ready to bury Adam. It was really nasty. That also passed for the most part rather quickly -- but some haters keep it up to this day. It has nothing to do with the AMA performance, it usually has nothing to do with Adam being gay, it has to do with people hating Adam. Frankly, then and now, there is far more hate directed at Lady Gaga when you look across the web vs. within the Idol bubble -- and more now than ever. *** Back to the Miley situation -- there were 4 artists on that stage -- one was pretty innocent (Pharrell). But TI was spewing his evil hate rape lyrics and Miley was not twerking against a wall, that was Robin Thicke behind her leaning in. I just about threw up when Robin's mom was on TV today complaining about Miley twerking against her son. Seriously? Has she listened to the lyrics to her son's song?

re: AMAs
When Adam tripped I did not know if it was planned or not. When he kissed Tommy, I cheered like he'd made a touchdown. I thought then and still do that it was a kind of pop cultural "moment." I thought his performance was exciting and truly emotional and provocative (as in thought-provoking) unlike all the other numbers (Rihanna and her weird wheel thing, Gaga smashing bottles, pyrotechnics). I LIKED those other numbers, but they were just that whereas Adam . . . had a bit more to "say," I thought.
I don't think Adam ever said he cried about the AMA thing. I think he said he cried over a MOVIE and that he needed a good cry.
Adam was aggressive in the performance, which fit the lyrics. I don't think he is or should be a sweety-sweet cupcake ALL the time . . .
I do not, evidently, have a super discerning ear because I did not think at the time that there was anything wrong with his singing.

What is it with tongues at the moment? EVERYWHERE tongues! Adam, Miley, Katy....just about everyone else in pics...Latest fashion statement? Don't like.... That's all. It looks like it is an expression of a good time .. I can not say that I liked it, but it no longer bothers me. I guess I got used to it seeing it for some time ..

Ok so I guess it was only a matter of time before we went went all back in time and revisted AMAs... I wasn't shocked, I wasn't horrified. The singing was not up to his usual standard but pretty much only glamberts noticed that. Mostly I laughed my ass off and thought it was grand. Why was what I think was ok for Adam not ok for Miley? I can't put my finger on it exactly - will have to come back on that once I do. #carryon For me -- Adam did it with more authenticity. And frankly, that silly set, and choreography, and the guys on leashes, and Adam coming out of the closet, I think it was probably better with his ad libs and ninja roll. And you are right, only people who knew Adam thought the singing was subpar. Miley looked like a tween playing around, surrounded by giant teddy bears -- trying too hard to escape her Hannah Montana past -- plus "Blurred Lines" is about a young innocent girl getting violently raped because she really wanted it. Throw in her repeative crotch grabs (like 50 of them) with the giant #1 finger and it was just kind of gross.

(We all love Adam here , we are All Glambert , and we are a Glamily . Share your true feelings here , nobody is gonna judge) I watched. And I cringed. Not because of the staging, the sexual moves, the guys on leashes, the kiss, the crotch grab, etc. They had been promoting the performance as being shocking and outrageous. It seemed less so to me than several other performances that evening. At least the staging fit the lyrics of the song. No, I cringed because the singing was ....... I was going to write "bad" but, most of it wasn't, compared to other singers. But he had some pitch problems and it was not up to his usual standards. I so wanted people to be blown away by his voice that I was worried. Funny thing, wasn't worried at all about the staging. Turns it, no one but Adam commented on the singing. I remember the AMA's like it was yesterday. I was SO excited to see/hear Adam perform my heart was pounding outside of my chest and I was on hyper alert. All I could think when it started was - oh NO, the voice is off!!! Shit!!! The one time he is off, and it is now? Since I had seen the rehearsal vids and it was promoted as shocking nothing in that regard was a surprise. But factor that many of us had followed him on the Idol tour so his sexual innuendo wasn't that shocking to me. I did notice the stumble and wondered if it was intended or planned. The Kiss surprised me, but wasn't all that shocked, just surprised and made me giggle. I asked my DH what he thought right after the performance and he said "nothing more shocking than what others were doing that night. He did however think Adam had kissed a girl band mate, LOL... It wasn't until I started reading the reactions on the internet I realized he was going to get a shit storm. He lost a lot of idol fans who didn't follow his Idol tour and were shocked - and pearl clutchers was an often used term. And of course the whopping 1500 people religious group who wrote that letter to the FCC (jezz with all their ruckus I thought if was hundreds of thousands of people revolting, until I hear it was only about 1500 complaints.) I, along with many other Adam fans, went to work supporting him on the internet as well as through email and letters. Even phone calls. Sort of a yin to the complainers yang... The first few days were really bad... he was blackballed from ABC and I felt like he was alone out there in the storm. I am sure family and friends had his back, and his fans - at least the ones that stayed by his side. This is only my belief: But I truly feel if it wasn't for the dedicated and tenacious Adam fans at that time he could have slipped away. But who knew the international exposure was actually to his benefit over time as his performance was notorious... In the US, many thought his 15 minutes just fizzled out. He has had to work his ass off to get past this. If he had it all to do over again and you asked me my opinion: I would hope he did the same thing the same way. Why, because in the long run he was right. It was a double standard and the conversation needed to happen. A lot of doors have broken down since then, and I think that event has at least something to do with helping things along. But in summary, it was his vocals I was mourning for, but nobody even mentioned that. When I finally got the nerve to go listen again, it wasn't as bad as my perception, hahaha. IMHO, Adam is a change agent, and his path will never be easy, which is why him having such a rabid fan base is, for the most part, LOL... important and helpful:-) Note: My memory may be hazy on some facts so feel free to correct me. My personal thoughts are vivid still...
