Star Spotting: There's So Much Beauty In Katy Perry + Adam Lambert's Photo, We Can Barely Look Directly At It Katy and Adam should basically do everything together so that we get more of these flawless photos. This picture of Katy Perry and Adam Lambert BFF-ing at Sunday's VMAs is just, like, TOO PERFECT! Seriously, our pupils can only handle so much beauty-per-pixel. Speaking of pixels, we're willing to bet that if you zoomed in on this photo about fourteen-bazillion times, you'd see that every tiny digital dot is actually a little fleck of glowing glam. What, you don't think that pop stars' pictures are made up of the same plebian pixels we get, do you? GET REAL. Though watching our sixty-second VMA supercut video on repeat really does wonders with Video Music Award withdrawl, a worthy alternative cure might be staring at the photo up top, which Adam shared on his Instagram along with the caption, "Me and my grill @katyperry." (Wordplay FTW!) I mean, well, we're trying to focus on it, but the shine from Katy's grill paired with the Artist To Watch presenter's gleaming smize may just make us go blind. We're gonna opt for closing our eyes and imagining what went down. They probably complimented each other's incredible outfits, arranged brunch plans the next morning so they could rave over Katy's Turnt-Up "Roar" performance. And then, Katy asked Adam to do a PRISM collabo because, guys, GlammyKats need to be the next stan movement, amirite?? (Show those Glam-birds what's what.) buzzworthy.mtv.com/2013/08/27/adam-lambert-katy-perry-2013-vma-photo/

I also had that sick feeling the night of the AMAs- more from the singing and the fall (how horrible but that he recovered was amazing, and then the finger at the end seemed so uncharacteristic. I think it was just the shock, not being prepared and his AI performances were all stellar.
There are some friends who were not bothered by it that much, but thought it was too contrived, planned and that turned them off. I've since gone back to watch and it is not nearly as bad as I remembered it the first night. the backlash was terrible, but I was impressed that Adam stuck to his guns, kept going, worked harder.
And glad that we all stuck with him, nice to see others have similar reactions.

I watched Adam and was unmoved by all that he did ,except for his fall and his somewhat poor performance.. It was the backlash that seemed to last forever that was so painful to me as a fan. I truly believe that kiss helped advance rights in the LGBT Community.. Adam wanted to know why the women POP stars, like Britney and Madonna could be so sexual and accepted, while the male and especially gay population couldn't be.The kiss set up a huge conversation.. and I believe changed much about male on male kissing now on TV,in the movies,in magazines, etc. IMHO they owe Adam a big thank you for that new freedom. I think Adam paid a huge price, and has had to work doubly hard for everything, when he had it all before that performance. That's exactly how I felt. The whole thing seemed blown out of proportion. I got to the point where I just wanted to shout, "All right, shut up about it already! No one died!" The thing is, though, that that move was clearly part of the pre-approved choreography. How do I know? The woman was wearing a costume with a cord and a ring hanging from the crotch. Why was it there if not for someone to tug on, like the pull on a bus or trolley to signal a stop? I think we can be pretty sure that Adam wasn't responsible for the costumes. That was a planned move, and it didn't shock me, because he didn't even touch the woman. He just pulled the cord. I thought it was amusing. I'm fairly certain that the only two moves that weren't planned were the kiss with Tommy and the pulling of the male dancer's face to his crotch. The former shouldn't have been an issue at all, and wouldn't have been if Tommy had been female. The face-to-crotch move was clearly a bad decision on Adam's part--too graphic for television. But really--no big deal in the large scheme of things. The sorrow I felt at the performance was that I'd hoped it was going to be a chance to really show the non-Idol-watching world what an amazing vocalist he is, but even if his singing had been of its usual quality (which it wasn't, but I have to say he still sounded better than many of the other performers), it was overshadowed by the controversy, and that made me really sad. I realized immediately that the pull cord act on the woman's crotch was planned...and as I said, that is perhaps my issue, but the fact that it was planned is part of what I hated about the move. If he'd had that smiley winking face that we all know he wears when he is misbehaving, I would have thought little of it....but he most assuredly did not. I imagine he was disconcerted and lost place because of all the sound issues he was experiencing...he was out of tune for quite a lot of the performance and if he couldn't hear himself, he may have imagined it was even worse than it was. I thought the kiss was great fun...as others have said, it was mostly that ferocious anger of it all. That AMA kiss bore no resemblance whatsoever to the kissing he and Tommy did throughout the GNT....you just need to look at the pic to see that. I agree with feeling a sense of foreboding from those fist flat notes in the opening...he doesn't usually get so off key so quickly. I never did spend any time at MJ's....Planet Fierce was my home and the first fan site I was ever a member of.

Pharrell weighs in. Robin Thicke and his mother should thank Miley for distracting viewers away from Robin's singing.

I was upset about Adam's singing on the AMAs, too. I think he was in character to be aggressive and domineering during the song. Then, he had sound issues and he got mad for real. At least, that's the way I saw it. He lost all of those ABC shows and I was really worried. Then, CBS gave him practically the whole Early Show 3 days later. And Adam was this sweet cupcake of a guy that brought his mom for moral support. He looked absolutely gorgeous. He sounded perfect.
