It's very cathartic to read and share how the amas affected us as fans. I couldn't face it back then. And it still hurts my heart to think how much anger and frustration and adrenaline and pressure and hopes he had all riding on that performance. I am fiercely proud of how he handled himself afterwards.

OK, then, next year at the VMA's how about Adam and Miley doing a duet? I mean a real duet, something classy. Quality vocals, no lions or tigers or bears..or leashes. Throw the VMA's into a total seizure..kinda like Kamar's avi is doing right now.. I am serious. I want to see this..exorcise the ghosts of the past, so we can put these past performances to bed. I like Miley and she can sing. She and Adam would be fun together. I'd watch that show. No massive stage productions..two talented singers performing. They'd have to shut the VMA's down for their vulgar image being dessimated. Wouldn't that be the ultimate?

I want to second Kamar's thanks to all of you long-time fans dredging up your thoughts about Adam's AMA performance to share with us... it's eye-opening and a thought-provoking experience. Also makes me appreciate even more his gratitude to his fans "who have always had his back". (I think that's the approximate quote. Sorta.)

I see there is discussion about Adam and the AMA performance. People here mentioned how angry he seemed. The most shocking thing to me was seeing him give the audience the finger at the end of the performance. Didn't Adam say that his anger was directed at the editor of Out Magazine and the debacle that ensued after his interview with them? To this day I don't know what to think about his performance that night. I just think that because of Adam's huge talent he has had huge expectations put on him from the very beginning.... Maybe too many too soon. I have thought for years that Adam made enemies in high places because of that performance. Why did it take so long for WWFM to get lots of adds on the radio? In retrospect, maybe it was RCA rather than aftermath of the AMA. My friends think of Adam from that performance, and I can't tell you how many say to me, "He is weird." This hurts me that they have this view of him. Adam is hugely talented, charismatic, classy, and deserves maximum success. He is not perfect, of course, but I think he has navigated his path since then very well. Since he has left RCA and has signed on with DMG, things have been going so well for him. I'm hoping for the best for him! WWFM had trouble getting radio adds at first because RCA spent 5 weeks working on FYE. then shifted to WWFM with no time to prep for it -- and then they ran into the US Radio holiday freeze when nothing is added to the charts. So the real effort for WWFM started in the second week of January -- and it peaked on radio in early May -- pretty typical timing for a CHR/HAC song. The AMAs were just a distraction that probably effected very little negatively. The raised middle finger is so out of character for Adam and I am not even sure Adam really understands what caused it at this point. Finally, I have found that many of the people who say they do not like Adam because of the AMAs also did not like his version of "Ring of Fire" and probably would not have really like the GNT Show. They just like Adam singing mid-tempo ballads in a plain suit. Let them listen to Michael Buble.

The AMA's.. almost lost me as a fan. It wasn't the content of what happened, I was totally cool with that. The pitchy singing, I felt badly for Adam, I too wanted everyone to know unmistakably how awesome he was..it was the aggression. It surprized me. I was not expecting that from Adam. But , in hindsight I now understand completely where the build up came from. Glad I stayed . I too was mostly shocked by his aggressiveness in that performance! It was so unlike any incarnation of Adam I had seen before. I do understand where it was coming from now, but I was really disturbed by that part of the performance. Also, I so wanted him to blow everyone away with his voice and that performance just did not do it. I actually laughed and said OMG! when he put the guys face in his crotch, just seemed like an Adam thing to do! I really hate that many people were turned completely off by his performance and some have never given him a chance since then. I still get that performance thrown up to me when I say what a big fan of his I am.

Throw MTV right on its butt and I do think it would get plenty of press. The build-up alone..Adam and Miley..OMG... batten down the hatches, put the kids in a cave..and then they come out and slay with a classy duet. Classy gets noticed too. It's so ~rare at these shows anymore. Turn about is fair play.
