Sure classy still gets noticed. I remember that after Pink did her raunchy band-member-face-in-her-crotch on the AMA's (I think it was) she came back the next year dressed all casual and pretty, sat on a stool with her guitar and sang a beautiful song. I became a fan that night.

Graciejane...I saw that a day or two ago and thought the same thing you are thinking but actually, that isn't Thicke's hand. If you look closely, you will see it is a left hand, not the right one that we don't see of Thickes. Just an odd coincidence that there is a blonde behind them getting fingered.....

Q3 said - Finally, I have found that many of the people who say they do not like Adam because of the AMAs also did not like his version of "Ring of Fire" and probably would not have really like the GNT Show. They just like Adam singing mid-tempo ballads in a plain suit. Let them listen to Michael Buble. ************************************************************* Agree x2. I think that Ring of Fire (which I absolutely Loved) really turned off people who are not country fans but like the traditional version of that song (which I also love). Strike one - Then the AMA's and all the OMG crap - Personally, I wasn't concerned. I'm of the sex, drugs, rock and roll generation - and heavens knows there had been much worse forgotten over the years. Even the gay issue I was pretty sure was not going to be a long term issue. Plus, we have pretty short memories for naughty behavior. On to the next non-scandal scandal.

I like confident aggressive moves. It was just that it was S&M moves and my parents were watching. And I was also given the opportunity to discover that I personally seriously hate seeing humans on leashes for any performance. Unless it is in a play and it is a historical depiction of something that is considered wrong. Male or female. Just rubs my freedom loving heart the wrong way to see humans treating other humans like animals. I don't even like to see animals on leashes, so there's that too. I think that was what immediately placed it into the serious ick box for me.
I say all this with full love of Adam the artist. Can't love everything! And we all win some and lose some. I just want more!!! More performances please.

For me the AMA's were shocking, not the crotch shot, because it went bye so fast, but his singing. I was disappointed for him. Then when I went in to work the next day, one of the doctors said, "your boy's in trouble". All I could say was, we'll see! I was worried and when I heard him say it was a couple of very lonely weeks and he cried, I cried too. As time went on and he was able to be interviewed, he made me feel better. He just handled it so beautifully. Adam affects me like a work of art, not everyone will understand it or like it, but it can NOT be ignored!

I was devastated after the AMA performance. I thought his career was over!! I think I cried and could hardly sleep.
I remember from the first note that he was off pitch and to me the whole performance was a mess. I was sure the fall was unintentionally.
I was shocked but not upset by the kiss and explicit sexuality.
But after watching his Idol performances, Idol tour and pre-Idol stuff ......... I just expected him to nail the performance and become an instant superstar.

It looks like the mirror-reflected image of thicke's right hand to me. Which would look like a left hand, wouldn't it?

Re AMAs, yes I imagine Adam put so much pressure on himself, closing the show, huge audience, then sound issues, tripping, it must have seemed like a very bad dream. In the end it may have served him well in terms of future performances.

I have no doubt that the AMA producers wanted a controversial performance from Adam.
After 52 Idol concerts where the audiences on both coasts and everywhere in between madly cheered his sexy, kinda dirty antics on stage, I think Adam overestimated the appeal of that kind of performance for the TV audience.
I don't think there was anyone advising Adam that had his best interests at heart.
(Thinking of Lee and Scarlett telling an overly enthusiastic Adam that, no, he can't have flames coming out of his fucking head.)
At this point, I'd like to add that ABC totally threw Adam under the bus.
They got everybody talking about the AMAs and they got Adam to take the blame for the criticism.
