Saw on E News Thicke said it wasn't rehearsed like that and he felt uncomfortable, denying any knowledge or fault so like Adam she will shoulder the repercussions alone with the exception Adam defended her first. Yesterday, it was totally against Miley but today even though there still are some disgruntled, there has been a mind change. I'm not condoning her but in her defense, she is young and there have been plenty others with raunchy dancing and not much said. Did I like the performance? No but as said by others MTV VMA's are known to have provocative performances so why bring kids or allow them to watch it. As Adam said, we are talking about it which was also stated on E news also. Adam was right and I'm thankful he has the balls to stand up for her unlike Thicke who has tucked tail to hide behind Miley. I think that she talked to Seacrest and she said adrenaline took over which is probably true. Just an opinion for what it's worth I've not had time to read through the thread the last couple of days, but I'd like to put my 2 cents worth in about Miley's performance. I won't comment on the pitchiness of the singing, that was obvious. But, I thought the performance was sort of funny, basically a farce of the Blurred Lines videos. How can Robin Thicke be upset by Miley's performance and not be upset about his videos??? The only difference is that Miley basically hammed it up to a point of being ridiculous and took all the attention. But wasn't the purpose of the nearly naked girls in the videos, to draw attention to the videos irrespective of the singing? And I find the lyrics of the rap section of Blurred Lines to be far more objectionable that Miley's performance.

Re your comments dancygeorgia: I totally agree. That was my first thought...she was parodying the video and it was all the gasps and comments that drove that out of my memory...thanks for the reminder.
re the Thicke pic....i assumed it was his hand too and I posted it on my FB but then a commentator said it was not his hand and I felt badly that I had 'gossipped' and I hid it....now I realize I was right all along and thank you guys for showing me that. It was floating by on twitter last night but it did not seem to gain any traction. Figures...more fun to beat up on Miley.
The man is a complete douchebag. What on earth is Pharrel thinking getting involved in this kind of project!!

Graciejane...I saw that a day or two ago and thought the same thing you are thinking but actually, that isn't Thicke's hand. If you look closely, you will see it is a left hand, not the right one that we don't see of Thickes. Just an odd coincidence that there is a blonde behind them getting fingered..... Are you sure? It looks like the mirror-reflected image of thicke's right hand to me. Which would look like a left hand, wouldn't it? Oh my, I feel creepy myself for saying this: but I enlarged the image and it looks like He is fingering the gal... it is a reflection of the backside of the gal and his right hand reflection. Wow, takes sleezy to a whole new level. That's how it comes across to me anyway, Ick!

I see there is discussion about Adam and the AMA performance. People here mentioned how angry he seemed. The most shocking thing to me was seeing him give the audience the finger at the end of the performance. Didn't Adam say that his anger was directed at the editor of Out Magazine and the debacle that ensued after his interview with them? To this day I don't know what to think about his performance that night. I just think that because of Adam's huge talent he has had huge expectations put on him from the very beginning.... Maybe too many too soon. I have thought for years that Adam made enemies in high places because of that performance. Why did it take so long for WWFM to get lots of adds on the radio? In retrospect, maybe it was RCA rather than aftermath of the AMA. My friends think of Adam from that performance, and I can't tell you how many say to me, "He is weird." This hurts me that they have this view of him. Adam is hugely talented, charismatic, classy, and deserves maximum success. He is not perfect, of course, but I think he has navigated his path since then very well. Since he has left RCA and has signed on with DMG, things have been going so well for him. I'm hoping for the best for him! Totally agree! I only hope Adam does not repeat aspects of his AMA performance. There are also parts of his GNT performances that should never make it to prime time TV. Taking one step forward and two steps back is not the way to get ahead. Unfortunately, Adam defending Miley has dredged up AMA all over again. TPTB are probably wondering if he plans a repeat if given the chance. Our contrarian is always going to not only be entertaining but also unpredictable. Love him even though I don't always like everything he does.

Adam is smart enough to know what is appropriate and what is not. I don't think we have to worry about Adam just because he is defending Miley, nor do I think TPTB (whoever they are) are worried about that either. I've been to many concerts, and the performers do get away with so much, and Adam is tame compared to some of them.

What a coward he turned out to be.I didn't like Miley's performance ,in fact I disliked it intensely, but I have to say this media inflamed outrage sounds a bit like bullying. In truth, I really don't think Miley needs to be rescued. This young woman has made a fortune, she has millions of fans ,she has lots of talent and she has balls. She came out for gay rights and didn't give a damn if her views were popular or whether these views would hurt her career. For that alone, I have some real respect for her. www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/03/miley-cyrus-why-i-got-my-gay-marriage-tattoo_n_1253130.html

ETA: Adam managed to support a friend -- Miley -- without approving of her performance. At the same time, he is getting positive press coverage. His instincts serve him well. It also helps that the press likes Adam. The only place I see any real discussion of the AMA is between the core Adam fans.

Okay, I'm going to be bold (for me). I've always wondered if he was on something that night that amped everything up. My own personal take so grain of salt: I don't think he was "high" as in drugs... Maybe red bull or something, but don't think anything mind altering. He did say, and I do agree, he was turned on. Can't remember his exact words. But judging by the GB when he came through the door... I would say he was very turned on. He said the acts that came before him really... and wanted to amp it up... paraphrasing here... So I think it was a combination of sexual tension/excitement, performance excitement, being pissed off, maybe knowing his vocals were off, falling, nerves and everything else that takes over ones head in that type of moment. I don't remember Adam said he was turned on sexually. He was the headliner and before his time to be on stage, he was watching all these stars before he has to perform. He saw Lady Gaga broke the wine bottle so he said he got amped up and his adrenalin was high because of that. Adding to that off course it's his first big gig on national TV after the idol thing, but this is in front off all the stars that already has their career in the industry. So nervous made his adrenalin even more higher and the need to prof himself and the anger to the outmagazine editor, everything mingle in one pot, effecting his vocal and his performance.

Hi Adamme: yes I remember what you talk about. I don't remember his exact quote or what interview... but he said something that alluded to being turned on... maybe someone else will know more.
Or maybe it was just how I perceived the comment - all in the perception sometimes, and then with the GB it just reinforced my perception. Or when Adam says he is turned on, my mind just goes to a sexual undertone, because that is what the term means to me...
So who knows:-) Just my take on the subject...
