Regarding the VMA's the miley's performance - very good analysis - sorry if already posted - Susie Fierce SusieFierce 9m Live this!! Excellent analysis. huff.to/1cenqqt Excellent points here, touching on several issues. "Is Miley your baby sitter?" Hmm, sounds familiar.

I am glad Adam defended Miley. The VMA producers and MTV execs encourage the artists to be outrageous -- then when someone goes too far, they hide under rocks.
And I have a challenge for everyone who has posted that Adam should not have commented about it because it brought the AMAs back up. Can you provide me with a like to any press report from the past 48 hours that mentions Adam's AMA performance in a negative way?
Most the reports just quote Adam's tweets with no mention of his 2009 performance. And the ones that mention it are like this one...not negative about Adam....
ETA: I think it is ironic that this is the second time Lady Gaga's big moment was completely upstaged. 2009 AMAs when she was supposed to be ruling the world and now her big return with "Applause" -- she ends up on stage in a g-sting and 3 shells and no one really cares. She really must be pissed off.

That was interesting, Craazy. I enjoyed reading that. Agree. There were some pretty strained sounding vocals on the rehearsal video too, and some flat singing on a few notes. Interesting. Interesting reading today. Time for bed. OK, just listened to the AMA rehearsal for the first time. I just don't get it, why the evil-guy, back-of-the-throat voice? (I know nothing about voice technique or the technical ways one creates such a sound) Does anyone else know what I am talking about. He sounds like he's literally playing an "Evil Man Joker" character for a musical. He does it for both the rehearsal and the actual performance. Just why? seriously.. NO joke I truly am wondering. I really don't want this to come across as mean. I just could not understand at the time why. Is it from nerves at the rehearsal as well? Or is it actually a character he decided to play, because it really sounds on purpose and chosen.

Yes, I agree that Gaga got upstaged, but that is also somehow the sad part about all this:
Gaga's performance was classy, and even though that last outfit was very revealing, it still tied into cultural aspects she hinted at, as many here noted (reference to Botticelli's Venus), she sang much better than Miley and certainly better than her partner in crime, Robin, who never found the key he was looking for. Gaga's performance was more interesting and better executed. I enjoyed that performance. So, its only problem was that it was not scandalous enough to cause the biggest scene.
And then we wonder that every year the boundaries get pushed out even further.
My biggest issue with these award shows (all of them, actually, except the Tony's), is that they are such a waste of time. They are not cultural highlights of the American music scene. They are actually incredibly boring with the occasional interruption by something scandalous. In fact, if American music were defined by its award shows, it would be in very sad shape. How did these shows start to go so off kilter? Well first of all, we are often celebrating the wrong artists as our top40 (or whatever chart it is that a show feeds off of). Then we make these artists something different than what these artists happen to be good at. Finally, we reward outrageous behavior and ignore artistic expression. And in the end it is all about money. Sorry state, these shows are in.
================ PS: Thanks for your kind words about my previous post. Loved reading many today too. We did not discuss the ama's for a while and lots of interesting posts came about today. So, thanks Kamar for starting the discussion or better thanks Adam, because he really triggered it with his tweets.

I wish Adam hadn't defended Miley, it wasn't like he was defending something noble, it was very trashy and it didn't make Adam look good when people were starting to forgive or at least put his AMA performance in the past. I've always thought that his AMA performance was the biggest set back to his career really taking off, not RCA, in my opinion. I think there are many that will never get past it. He's looking really good these days and has some great connections, his glamnation days will never pass with the top 40 group he wants to be a part of. I hope he continues the path he's been on the past year, if he does I see great things for him! It's just Adam and I'm glad he stays being himself. Just like Justin Timberlake, Anderson Cooper and many said it's VMA, it doesn't have anything to do with noble thing. People expect too much of this kind of thing. His AMA may have been a set back to some conservatives in the US, but it definitely catapult his career internationally. People outside the US didn't see anything wrong with his AMA performance and don't understand why some Americans had problem with it. And if some of them will never get past it, it's their problem. Like Adam said, if he's not your cuppa, it's all good.
If Adam didn't defend Miley he would have been a hypocrite. He could have kept his mouth shut but that's Adam. He's going to speak his mind. What has held Adam back is lack of radio play and the public not seeing him enough. He needs more appearance like the VMA show. I saw so many OMG!! Adam Lambert on twitter that it just confirmed to me that he has been out of the public eye for too long. Also, his Glamnation days was a lot more successful than his Trespassing era were he has toned down his look a lot. Top 40 fans will buy good music when heard not how an artist chooses to express himself in experimenting with different looks.

Loved your comments Craazy. Just one last thing about the vma's -- for an award show, I really didn't pay any attention to what was won by anyone. It didn't seem to be the focus. I read somewhere that the staging was meant to be hectic but it just felt unorganized to me. But, I'm not a fan of the fast camera work that seems to be popular today. One thing for sure, I'm not that interested in watching again. I'll just wait and catch the results on some list the next day.

Sorry to disagree with you Daenerys and Adamme but I don't think Adam would have been a hypocrite at all by not defending Miley. He would have been making a stand for womens rights and a stand to not objectify women and girls. 14 year old girls are Miley's fan base, it sickens me to see these young girls believe they have to act trashy to be accepted and popular. In regards to Glamnation days being more successful than Trespassing I completely disagree. I think he lost a lot of support from radio executives (not djs) and couldn't garner their support to play Trespassing; it has fantastic songs that were very radio friendly, just not played.
