Tuesday, August 27, 2013; 08:08 AM - by TV News Desk Adam Lambert took to Twitter yesterday to defend Miley Cyrus' controversial performance at Sunday night's live VMA's on MTV. The former Hannah Montana star has been strongly criticized by celebrities and fans alike for bumping and grinding her way through a duet of 'Blurred Lines' with performer Robin Thicke. "Listen if it wasn't ur cup of tea -- all good but why is everyone spazzing?" the former American Idol contestant tweeted on the number. "Hey -- she's doin something right. We all talkin." Lambert has faced backlash of his own for his appearance on live TV. Appearing on the 2009 American Music Awards, he performed his then hit single, 'For Your Entertainment,' while dragging a woman across the stage, locking lips with a male musician and simulating fellatio with his back-up dancer. In an interview with Ryan Seacrest. the singer defended the performance explaining, "It's choreography, we were dancing. The sexuality of it kind of got a little more extreme when I got up on stage. I think the adrenaline kind of took me over, and I admit it, and I'm proud of the fact that I did get a little carried away."

When you think of where Adam has come from - the Zodiac shows, the drag shows, the underground, alternative club scene, etc. what Miley did was nuthin'. Really tame. If anything, I would expect Adam to be more "offended" by some of the singing (or lack thereof) on the show than any of the moves and costumes. Remember, Adam stripped nude at 21 years old in "Hair." The guy has seen and probably been involved with some serious "kink" onstage. Adam has also experienced his legion of fans writing and tweeting about his glambulge, throwing sex toys at him, screaming at him to take his clothes off, screaming at every sexy body roll he does on stage, tweeting about the sexual things they want to do to/with him... he is very used to being objectified as a sex "toy." So, he would not think it strange or wrong for the gals to do it too. It's part of the business. It's all performance. Adam is all for artistic freedom, no matter whether it fits his personal taste or not. Have to log in to just

I think Anderson Cooper summed up my thoughts on Miley very nicely last night on the Ridiculist ac360.blogs.cnn.com/category/the-ridiculist/MTV, AMAs should just slap 18+ warnings on these shows so parents can be warned, and then Miley & Adam could just defend their performances based on their merits, not their effects on children.

Gelly @14gelly 6mMiley Cyrus' VMA Performance: Cyndi Lauper Says It Encourages "Date Rape" While Adam Lambert Defends Her eonli.ne/17bR40l via @eonline Adam mention
Following the collective freakout over Miley's over-the-top antics, which left some viewers feeling violated, one of her other contemporaries however was a little more forgiving. "Listen if it wasn't ur cup of tea--- all good but why is everyone spazzing? Hey - she's doin something right. We all talking," tweeted Adam Lambert. While defending her, the American Idol alum was quick to clarify he wasn't weighing in personally on the merits of her peep show however. "Hold up! I didn't actually state whether or not I liked @mileycyrus performance. I merely said she was having fun and to cut her some slack," Adam added. In fact, Lambert says he was just playing the Devil's Advocate. "Whew folks are all heated bout this. Hilarious. I can't help it that I'm a contrarian—just another healthy debate," he said.

My issue isn't with sexuality of the performance, nor how much clothing was being worn. No, my problem was that it was simply a hot mess. Had the performance had any sort of self awareness, irony, or subversive delivery I would have applauded it. However, the whole thing was just a couple of desperate posers trying in vain to look edgy and sexual. It reeked of a gasping plea, seeming to say "See! See! I'm not a kid anymore! Aren't we just so very cool and sexy?"
As for anyone throwing a fit about a sexualize performance on MTv? What realty are they from where MTV has ever been conservative and "child friendly?" Which ever it is, they'd better hurry back to the Stargate, because the chevrons are locking.
