The Lambrits @lambritsuk 12m RT @sphasiaone: Singapore label makes red carpet appearance at the MTV music awards, thanks to Adam Lambert fb.me/JcLYRcrO Singapore fashion brand Depression got a shout out at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards when American singer-songwriter Adam Lambert strutted down the red carpet in a pair of grey lace-up platform shoes from the brand. Lambert, who’s known for his flamboyant style that flits between rocker and glamourous, sported a shiny Lanvin suit with black lapels to attend the VMAs show and rounded his ensemble off with Depression shoes from the Singapore brand’s Autumn Winter 2013 Plastic Surgery collection. Kenny Lim, the director and part of the designer duo that makes up Depression, told herworldPLUS: “I had no idea that Adam Lambert had a pair of Depression shoes! I only knew he had worn them to the VMAs when I woke up this morning and saw my Twitter and Facebook accounts flooded with congratulatory messages. It’s really an honour to have Adam Lambert wear our shoes to such an important event. I was really surprised and I have to say – great styling!” The other half of the duo, Andrew Loh said : "I love Adam Lambert. I love his style. He dares to be himself and dares to be different. He's definitely an icon."

I consider myself an impassioned Adam fan. I'm crazy about the artist, the vocalist, and the man. However, I have never thought of sending him a gift of any sort. I don't mean it as a criticism of those who do. But, I don't get it. I have enough difficulty finding a perfect gift for my close family and friends. Something they will like, that will mean something to them, that reflects their taste, that they don't have, that they won't smile and say "thanks" and then shove in a closet or regift. I certainly don't know what Adam would like or need.
I can understand wanting to express my appreciation to Adam for the artist he is and how he has enriched my life. Isn't that what a fan letter does? A card? Or a contribution to a charity in his name? But a gift? Maybe I am much more paranoid than other folks. If I got a gift from an unknown stranger, especially a gift of food or drink, I sure as hell wouldn't consume it. There are crazies out there! I would expect Adam, as a celebrity, a public figure, and an object of some ugly hatred, to be suspicious of any such gift from a stranger. Much safer to order a bottle of wine from room service, don't you think?
As for sending out personal "thank you"s to everyone who sends a gift, that would be almost impossible. Adam is a kind and down to earth guy, but he is also very busy with a wonderful collection of friends, family and colleagues. His focus is on creating and performing his art, and living his own life. We fans are lucky he is so visible, so appreciative of his fans, and so willing to interact with us.
IMO, YMMV.

Q3 - thanks for responding! I agree FYE was a poor choice for a first single, esp after hearing it sung live. It should have been IIHY - but I think that must have been a late addition to the album perhaps? I remember that the stickers on the CD's all mentioned Music Again, Winners (which then changed to Sure Fire Winners) WWFM and FYE as the "included singles." IIHY was my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE Adam song and probably still is (of the ones he didn't write anyway). I am still lamenting the absence of Max Martin on Trespassing - someday I just want to know why they didn't work together. I think someone mentioned that Max didn't like to collaborate with singers, but I'm pretty sure he has collaborated with many pop singers the last couple of years - there must have been some reason because I think he planned to.......

I remember reading somewhere that Max Martin is a very controlling producer. Kinda rules with a heavy hand. If that is true, I can imagine that with Adam's need to control (with a smile) as well, they might not work well together in the studio. Adam has said he doesn't like being told what to do.

I wasn't here for the Adam's AMA performance discussion earlier but would like to say it was the aggressiveness/anger of his performance that upset me...I was waiting for the Adam with the wink and the gorgeous smile to appear. Fun Adam was replaced by mad Adam....adrenalin can be a bitch! lol I was just sick and worried about the career fallout that might happen. I was in a sad frame of mind for a couple of days after because I wanted everyone to see what an amazing performer he was and I felt that performance with the pitch problems didn't show it. But talking with others at, I believe it was Planet Fierce then, helped me feel more positive and more determined than ever to help him anyway I could to get passed it. I never ever felt like deserting him. I am here for the duration.
