Tthe management knows neither who their target audience is, nor what the purpose of the show is, nor what people want or why people are leaving in droves. They are absolutely clueless, and clearly illiterate, because they are ignoring every word of advice they are given. Amazing.

Connick is pleasant enough....but man o' man, they may as well have hired Barry Manilow. I'd be embarassed. ya...THIS is the result of the executive shake up? HILARIOUS! They have truly insured the demise of the show.
I can't believe they couldn't find ANYONE a bit more hip or current. How in the hell do they expect to compete with any of the other singing competition shows?...again, it's embarrassing, and I'm sooooo glad that Adam isn't involved. (Hope he told them to take a flying leap).

Is there ANY chance that Idol will be watchable - maybe if the judges get to give their honest and unvarnished opinions? Maybe? From what I saw of JLo as a judge, she was useless. I got the impression that she didn't know enough to give good feedback, even if the producers would have encouraged it. Keith? Might have potential. But he was bulldozed aside by the Divas last season. Have no idea if he knows anything about vocal technique or how to stage a number. Harry Conick was actually a good mentor. He knows music, performance and arranging. He may not know current musical styles, but he can still give the contestants good feedback on how they are performing a song. More problematic is the whole format and viewpoint of the powers that be and the producers. They say there will be lots of changes to bring the show back into relevance and prominence, but then they choose THIS panel of judges and bring Randy back as a mentor. It certainly shows no innovation, no new direction, no creativity. That makes me very doubtful that they will update and expand themes, song lists, contestant casting/choosing, the corny/sobby back stories, etc. These judges may not kill the show, but they indicate that the show may be dying. IMO.

Hollywood Reporter @thr 10m EXCLUSIVE: Harry Connick Jr. lands third #AmericanIdol judge slot j.mp/196EAEy Connick is pleasant enough....but man o' man, they may as well have hired Barry Manilow. I'd be embarassed. I think Barry would have been better -- he once had some hits. HKJ has countless albums and has never released a single. But he will be great at judging the Jazz song theme, and the Songs Your Great Grandma Loved. All I can say is YIPES!! Idol are you really this desperate!!

I think this is who the guys who got fired (like Nigel) wanted on the panel anyway! That is funny!

I LOVED this hair -- if he had added a natural coloured Melvin it wouldn't have looked too bad either.
