Hi all, I have a little insight from my experiences hiring various entertainers over the years. It's not a full-time thing, but rather has been an on again off again part of my job -- and then because I had a little know-how, I "volunteered" my expertise for some local events. So I am in no way an expert but thought I share a few insights/opinions. I defer to anyone who comes along with more knowledge and experience. My two-cents... The fees listed on the previous pages actually seem fairly accurate to me. Some of those ranges are pretty wide... and that is actually what's so accurate about it. The fees artists command varries greatly depending on the situation. For instance, I hired Bill Cosby for a one-off show for $125,000 (this has been at least 10 years ago). In that same year, Cosby's people organized a tour and his performance fee for a public show in the same city was $80,000. Generally speaking a one-off is going to cost more than a traveling tour. However there are variables there as well. Sometimes a piece of ticket sales is involved which allows for a lower up front fee. When we needed to hire entertainment for a private event, we always looked first at acts we were interested in who were criss- crossing the country at the same time. Much much better deals to be had that way. It also doesn't necessarily matter if the artist has a current hit. Using Clay Aiken as an example (someone has already mentioned him...) He has enough name recognition that his fee is probably in the $50,000 - $100,000 range depending on the scenario -- lower in some cases and higher in some. He may not have many offers at the top of that range... but that's his range. If he did come up with a hit song, or tv show, or something buz-worthy the range might increase a little, but what would increase more would be the offers. I'm fairly certain Adam is not being paid $500,000 for the casino gig. It is more likely in the neighborhood of $150,000 - $200,000. I could be a little low but I don't think so. Those are just a few thoughts. If I can chime in with additional relevant info as the discussion continues... I sure will. And please feel free to disagree or correct me. As I said.... this isn't my full-time thing. I'm more of a dabbler.

I question the validly of these rates since it is a booking firm in Virginia that does not have Adam or Daughry signed to them. At least that is what I am gathering from their web site. Bo Bice is on their client list. Booking firms can litterally put anyone on their "list" as they can broker almost any artist. One of the firms I used to use would just ask for my price range and then he woud send a list with hundreds and hundreds of people listed... from Janet Jackson to the Smothers Brothers. If I'm interested in one of the acts, they contact that artists booking agent and they get a piece of the action. The ranges are often so wide, but it still gives you an idea. If I'm looking for a $25,000 act... it does tell me who can stay away from. If I have $75,000 most acts, aside from superstars are fairly attainable at that range. It's your audience that makes the difference. A daughtry audience isn't going to have much interest in Adam Lambert and vice versa. They are both worth $150,000 to the right event, venue, audience.

There are degrees of Aspergers and Tourettes, as with all mental conditions, and judging by his participation on Idol, I imagine Durbin's case of each is minimal. Of course, that is a good excuse to fall back on when you have been ugly about someone. haha. If he is behaving now, perhaps he learned a valuable lesson early on about being gracious when navigating the rough waters of the entertainment field. And maybe his wife read him the riot act and told him to straighten himself up and button his lip. heh. But I watched all of Durbin's Idol season and his facial tics were bad. At times he could barely talk. He was excellent in that AMA vid with Lance. I do remember him saying in an interview that he rarely took his medication, so maybe that is the difference now. He might be actually taking his meds. He has a medical condition. His wife telling him to " be good" or "learning his lesson" probably has nothing to do with how well he can control it.

My guess would be that Adam is getting about $500,00 for New Year's at Winstar. That guess is based in part on the caliber of the acts that have played there the last two years (Adam Levine+Maroon 5 in2011, and Pitbull in 2012). The casino makes money not just on ticket sales, but on rooms, food, alcohol, and gambling. For the Fountainbleu, I would estimate about $200,000. It is, I believe, the second biggest nightclub in the world. My estimate here is based on comparable acts that have played recently (FUN, and Robin Thicke). Here too the hotel makes money on rooms, food, and above all ALCOHOL. Incidentally, there was a recent article in The New Yorker about Las Vegas. Big name entertainers are now basically loss-leaders. Major money comes from the dance clubs where DJs rule. Major DJs are now commanding, and getting, hundreds of thousands a night. Why? Because a good DJ brings in affluent young people who run up big (BIG!) bar tabs. Avicii makes 250k a night!!

I cannot believe that Daughry's fee's almost the same as Kelly. Unlike Kelly, he rarely a headliner and cannot even sold out tickets on his own tour. A lot of time he's touring with other more famous band, especially when he's touring international. Adam doesn't need other famous band to tour with him internationally and he can sale out the tickets and Daughtry's international fee's more than Adam?? SERIOUSLY??? I question the validly of these rates since it is a booking firm in Virginia that does not have Adam or Daughry signed to them. At least that is what I am gathering from their web site. Bo Bice is on their client list. IMO, there is no way Daughtry is getting the fee reported on that site. Maybe he did 5 years ago, but now? No way!
