Those who've been here a while and at PF forum will know I'm not really one to gush or wax lyrical about much, but all the stories about names and how they came to "follow" Adam got me thinking back down memory lane so for anyone interested here's my Adam tale.
I hadn't watched Idol for a few years. Mostly an intermittent browser of the show and even at that not until final group had been selected (don't like the torturous audition stuff). Turned it on to watch one night and as turns out was Michael Jackson night. Thought Black and White was pretty awesome so jumped online to do a bit of digging on who this guy was. Was posting at another AI dedicated forum back then (can't remember name) and started writing (tongue in cheek bitchy) recaps assigning everyone nicknames. Good times. Wandered over to MJs periodically and spent a fair amount of time laughing hysterically at Jacobs recaps over at TWoP and getting my ass banned by the nurse ratchet moderator on the forum there. Devoured Upright Cabaret and Zodiac Show You Tubes. Dropped my jaw on the floor that anyone could sing like that. Laughed my ass off in the best possible way when he sparkled and stomped his fine self all over the finale with Kiss. Was pissed as all hell when he lost.
All of which eventually led me to the loving arms of PF and then to Atop... and the rest as they say is history. He continues to drop my jaw on the floor. #fanforlife

That is so sad! There was an SOS put up at the fan club. That's how most of us found each other within a few days. Now we are most all on twitter, so it'd be much faster! I still cry about the wonderful threads we lost when PF went poof and then our first ATop went poof! Gridlock, Fantasy Springs, The Grammy nomination thread :( When PF was up, I was a lurker, so I didn't know anyone. The day it went down, I was crushed. I didn't find Atop either for months. It was a random post on another site I was visiting that led me here. Once I saw the familiar names, I literally started crying. All this name splainin' has been fun and has inspired me to share "the moment" I fell under Adam's spell. I had quit watching Idol the year Taylor Hicks won. Season 5, I believe. However, my DH continued to watch so I had a vague idea of some things going on. One night as I sat at the computer searching the web for instructions on how to repair our icemaker (my exciting life), I heard this enchanting sound emanating from the living room. Rolling, undulating, caressing, notes with Middle-Eastern rhythms and cymbals entwined with a siren's voice with a hypnotic wail of passion and desire and mystery slithered through the air and entered my ears, my brain, my soul before warmly coiling around my nether region and establishing permanent residence there. I levitated to the television screen on an invisible magic carpet powered by lust inspired by this SOUND and became transfixed on that face, the hair, the nail polish, the leather, a sliver of skin, and an exposed ZIPPER!!! *swallowshardandfansselfatthememory* I fell down the rabbit hole. Hard. Not a chance of me ever crawling out either because I like it here...with all of you!
WOW!!! Now I'm wondering what did your DH think of Adam??? Happy, he LOVED him and enjoys Adam's voice as much as I do! My hubby has supported my Adam addiction all these years and patiently puts up with my "fan-girling". He makes sure our daughters and I get to any show within a semi-reasonable distance--even making sure we got to Vegas for Adam and Queen! He says seeing us so happy makes him happy. DH hasn't attended a concert....YET! But the entire family is going to Winstar for New Year's Eve! I'm truly a lucky woman. |

RL kicking my behind, so very late catching up. I love this place sooooo much and everyone’s sharing was such a treat. My name comes from the fact that although I have been on several fan sites following Adam (American Idol, Adam Official, lurked at MJs, and mostly a lurker at PF and here ) I have never posted much. By the end of the day I just don’t have many words left. As I don’t post much, it’s not about what I have to say but about what YOU say - only in poor English  . Hence whatyasay. |
