*** OT *** Also I noticed many members were interested in Sauli's DOI performances last night, happy to provide info on that. In view of the interest I want to share the power ballad, the song apparently of Sauli's choice for their second performance last night. The song has a very strong message of knowing his soulmate but living the life without him, knowing for certain that there'll a time much later when they'll be joined, forever. (No 'problem' in the pronouns as we have only one for both genders.) Does anyone see a message here?

I cannot answer why they would do this, but it is clear that there is a longer than normal release time involved here. My 3 ideas are: .... I also know that within the Sony corporate culture, if you pay money, you must extract something in return.
That last sentence in your analysis just sits there for me. Why on earth didn't they go balls to wall with promotion? Seems they could have been very successful with Trespassing had they really promoted it!! It would have cost an INCREMENTAL $2 million to $5 million to go "balls to the wall" beyond what they had invested and it was not likely to generate sales to pay that off. That would have made Trespassing an $5 million to $8 million investment. It would have had to have sold over 1 million units to break even. If you gave me $5 million, I do not know how to sell 1,800,000 copies of Trespassing (album) which is the rough breakeven point and I do not think it is possible. >> RCA did spend some money (I think about $1 million) on promotion with little return and they did test the songs as singles but online and using a radio callout. I have been told the results were not good. But this kind of research (one of the things I used to do) is often ignored. While it was a business decision -- I think the mistake was made back in 2011 when the tried to "win back" Adam's mythical fans who wanted the Idol Mad World Adam -- and led with BTIKM. Glee proves to me that there are a lot of non-fans who love the Starchild Adam -- hence MTN is headed to 2 million views -- but it is not going viral. This is one case were "creative differences" really are the root of the entire problem. It goes back to the beginning. Adam wanted to do FYE (single), Trespassing (single), Cuckoo, Broken English, PTL and so on - the Adam fans love, slightly edgy fun Adam. RCA wanted him to repeat Mad World, WWFM thus BTIKM, NCOE - safe Adam, the nice, nonthreatening gay guy. Thus, we have two songs crammed onto Trespassing by the label, we have a lame lead single, and we have a label team afraid to promote an artist they way he and his fans want him to be. Perhaps the duality of Adam's Glee character is about more than just fun TV. I think it represents the battle he has been dealing with his whole life. I am happy now to start to see some merging of the Two Adams into a fashionable, sophisticated man who can be both serious/sensitive and give use an audio dance party with the "costume change".

I believe that a rep from RCA confirmed something to this effect that was mentioned in the HR "cover album" article. Not smart of RCA of course because Trespassing in one very interesting, well produced and artistic album.

Boy George @boygeorge 22h The argument about wether @sambaileyreal will sell records is simply ridiculous. She has a brilliant voice! Retweeted by KI55andTELL I saw this retweet in my twitter feed a couple of hours ago and was curious about it given the age old argument about best selling artist not always being the best singers. So, I went to YouTube to see what this Sam Bailey was about. Well, SHE (Sam is short for Samantha) is a 35 year old mom and contestant on the current UK X-Factor. Sam is being mentored by Sharon Osborne, mother of Kelly Osborne who is a big Adam fan and former neighbor of Adam (working that 6-degrees of separation angle since this seems to be a theme in today's thread). And Sam does indeed have a brilliant voice - a power ballad type of voice with great range and emotion. I just spend a couple of hours watching Sam's performance videos and was really impressed! I would love to know what other people think. A list of YouTube performances can be found here: With prolog & judges comments: www.youtube.com/results?search_query=intutormedia+sam+bailey&sm=3Just the songs: www.youtube.com/results?search_query=%22The+X+Factor+UK%22+sam+bailey&sm=3I am reminded about how just a tweet or other online mention can bring people to listen to singers they have never heard before. And how many people are just discovering Adam because of all the online mentions in twitter and elsewhere about Adam's Glee performance!!! Also, during Movie Week on UK X-Factor, Sam sang the theme song from the Titanic movie, My Heart Must Go On. originally sung my Celine Dion. In the prolog, Sam talks about having sung on a cruise ship when she was 21 (this would have been 2 years before Adam's stent as a cruise ship singer - working that 6-degrees of separation angle again). One night there was a big storm at sea, casino tables were falling, glasses were smashing, and she had to sing My Heart Must Go On because it was in the show and her boss said the show must go on. She never wanted to sing the song again and then Sharon picks that song for her to sing. But here are my 2 favorite performances from Disco week and Big Band week:

There were signs there before the other shoe dropped. I know I will breathe a huge sigh of relief when his new label is announced. Especially if it is one of the labels noted for giving their artists full support. I was hoping shosh's trip to LA had something to do with that but alas it doesn't seem to have anything to do with any kind of major announcement. At least for Adam.

Isn't it amazing how life delivers us coincidences!!? My DD just posted this video on her Facebook page: www.nelonen.fi/ohjelmat/dancing-on-iceNow we know that: 1. Adam loves Prince and got in on a surprise Prince show not that long ago...not counting the time he took his mom. 2. He also really likes Lenny Kravitz and just met him last week. 3. but the most surprising coincidence is that I just attended a fundraising concert[last night] for a local natural health practitioner on the island who was in a floatplane accident a few months ago and has not been able to work for some time....not to mention having to go through a long and painful recuperation herself. One of her clients is a local musician by the name of Randy Bachman. Randy wrote "American Woman" and recorded it, with singer Burton Cummings, as the Guess Who. Randy told the story of the song as part of the concert. They were hugely big back in the mid 60's and 70's before splitting upon which Randy created the Bachman-Turner Overdrive...they had some hits too....he is still touring the world. What I had not realized was that the song was really a war protest song. Randy and Burton had been stopped at the border while on their way to a gig in Texas. Because they had a 'green card' allowing them to perform in the US, they became [unknowingly to them] eligible for drafting to the Viet Nam war.....they hightailed it back over a neighbouring border crossing and they wrote the song "American Woman". The American woman is the Statue of Liberty!! I did not know that!! Amazing...love American woman.. saw Lenny Kravitz perform it live at a free outdoor concert in Florida years ago .Who knew it was the statue of liberty.. WOW... Talk about connections,"six degrees of separation" Like the video.. Prince as your backup.. Dreams do come true I love the "American Woman". It was not just anti-war, it was anti-American (and I think justifies at the time). This was 1970, a time when the US was not very popular in Canada, and much of the US government's actions were not very popular in the US -- at least with people under 30. American woman, said get away American woman, listen what I say Don't come a-hangin' around my door Don't wanna see your face no more I don't need your war machines I don't need your ghetto scenes Coloured lights can hypnotize Sparkle someone else's eyes Now woman, get away from me American woman, mama, let me be

There are a couple of questions I have: 1) Why did they release BTIKM during the Christmas holidays, and especially with no promo at that time and zero chance of radio play? 2) Why did Adam do soooo many radio promos, but radio didn't play any of his songs. So, they didn't like BTIKM, but I would think they might have played NCOE (cuz of Bruno connection), and for sure Trespassing or Cuckoo. I guess we found out no matter how much radio promo you do, that guarantees zilch. 3) Why didn't Adam do the TV rounds. 4) Adam sold miniscule amt of albums after his debut week. I heard even tho Scotty had less debut week sales, his drop off sales every week after weren't bad. I was reluctantly to bring up Scotty, but was seriously wondering why Adam's drop off was so steep? What the heck happened? 5) Why do you think Adam didn't have any sort of tour in the US for Trespassing? (OK, more than a couple of questions, sorry.)

Sam Bailey has it all. Great stage presence. Thanks for bringing her to my attention. Real, true talent still brings tears to my eyes when I hear it. I am looking forward to a long career for her. She deserves it. Michael Bolton knew it when he saw it.

Adam busted his butt at station after station after station....for extremely little benefit. Or at least any obvious benefit (aka radio play). From what I've gathered reading over the last few years, radio touring is quite expensive. Why, I don't know. But if [perceived or actual] payola associated with it doesn't result in spins, what on earth is the point? [mutters bad words] I guess the important issue is: What are they going to do different with A3 ???
