What is it about Adam's version of as song that makes me love it more than other versions? The first thing that hits me is the tone of his voice. It is bright, clear, and ringing, but with a fullness, roundness, and depth, too. Other singers have good voices, but most of the pop and rock singers I hear don't have that resonance. Their voices sound flat (not in pitch, but in tone) or dull in comparison. I don't set out to compare, really. But, when I hear another singer and then hear Adam, the richness of his tone is strikingly obvious to me. Have you you seen the TV ads for Claritin allergy meds? They show someone in a pretty outdoor setting talking and it looks fine. Then, when they talk about Claritin, the special effect is like taking a slightly gauzy film off the camera lens and everything just pops with color and crispness. Adam's voice is like that. Or like someone here once said: like other voices are two dimensional and Adam's is in 3D. The second thing about Adam's performances is the intensity of the emotions in the song. The words and phrases mean something. The song tells a story. After listening to Adam, when I hear others there is a kind of flatness in the interpretation. Maybe it is Adam's training in theater that causes him to consider how to approach the song so that it means something. Technically, Adam does things to bring that emotionalism to the song. Things like changing the tone, roughening it up or smoothing it out, singing it with a straight, piercing sound, or warming it up with vibrato. Or doing subtle little things with the rhythms and phrasing, speeding up a phrase, elongating it, holding a note a bit longer, or delaying the start of a note or phrase. Or, varying how he articulates words, spitting them out in a staccato style, or flowing one sound into another, but always producing the words intelligibly. His interpretations are full of life and masterful.
Most singers cannot do this because they do not have the technical ability to do so much with their voice and delivery. Just something as "simple" as being able to sing any note delicately and softly, in a normal volume, or with super power is beyond many singers. All the technical things that Adam is able to do with his voice are, individually, very subtle, while cumulatively, they result in us thinking "Wow, that sounds great! The best I have ever heard that song." This is not to take away anything from other singers who are also very good. I am not dissing anyone. I am just trying to explain why some of us hear a "one in a billion" voice when Adam sings. I LOVE THIS!

I like Adam Levine so I may not be the right person to respond but I read all the comments on the People.com article announcing he is the sexiest man -- and mostly people are mocking People for their choice and saying Adam Levine is not sexy. Many are recommending other people. And it is coming from all kinds of people (mostly women) -- and not specifically from Adam fans. Adam Levine is very popular and The Voice coaching role has shown he is a caring person -- which is not apparent when he performs. Mostly I think people are having fun with it and mocking People for the choice. *** New thread is up. Actually, Q3, you are the perfect person to respond to this. I've been pretty confused as to why everyone was dissing him, even before the sexiest man thing came up. I definately don't think he is, of course. But, I do think he's likeable, and I do get a kick out of him on The Voice. I guess I already said that. LOL!! But, confirmation is always a good thing. And, I always love it when he goes over to Miranda Lamberts hubby and smooches on him. I just can't remember what the hell his name is right now....argggggggg!! LOL!! It will come to me soon...I"m sure of it!! Ok, I seriously had to google it...Blake...*shudder* sorry bout that..but he gives me the creeps...hahahahhaa!! Physically, I find him repulsive and I guess I've always read articles about him being a douche. Articles like this with quotes from him. www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/is-adam-levine-the-definition-of-a-hot-doucheThen of course the whole WWFM, I got an even worse impression.

But I don't LIKE Gaga. *whine* so it hard for me to "keep it real" and complement. I didn't say anything negative, just I like ADAM. Bring it home, daddy-o. Outtasight! Power to the People. I just post how much I like Adam's version of MTN on Adam, Glee and general entertainment sites. That eliminates any problems. I prefer Adam but I also like some of Lady Gaga's music. I am not a fan of ArtPoP. But many artists have a miss here and there. I have seen Lady Gaga live a couple of times and she is a very talented entertainer and songwriter. The upcoming album of jazz duets with Tony Bennett will be an interesting change. She can actually sing, just hard to tell with all the production. More info: www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/29/lady-gaga-tony-bennett-duets-jazz-album-january_n_4013390.htmlI also liked her 2011 duet with Tony Bennett. youtu.be/ZPAmDULCVrUOh, I'm looking forward to the album with Tony Bennet !

For me Gaga's voice is a little bit too sharp comparing to Adam's rich, juicy voice. Their duet would be phenomenal. My son is a fan of Lady Gaga. When he heard Adam's version of MTN, he said:"Adam sings better"

OMG! I have to say. I'm not a fan of Levine and I hate the People 'the Sexiest Man Alive' choice. But sometimes, seeing some reactions and pics I feel almost pity for him. (I don't care about him and his career so I don't know, maybe he is a nice guy... or not?) Schimoli710, I feel exactly the same way. You are right, he may not be our choice and we hate these kind of contests, but he just may be a sweetheart. I think he is doing a great job on The Voice. Thanks Nannygoat. OK, I'm gonna say something here, and it might not be too popular, but then, it's all about opinions. I'm not a big fan of Adam Levine's voice, music, etc. Some of it isn't too bad, but nothing I'm going to buy either...lol! But...I watch The Voice...and he seems kinda, sorta ok on there. He's likeable, etc. He really seems to care about his people there and he's kind of funny. I don't know...I'm kind of on the fence here. I don't think he's sexy. I don't think he can sing even close to our Adam. I'm just not sure why everyone dislikes him so much. I guess that's my question. He definately is NOT as sexy as Adam F. Lambert!!! There is no question there. I know that he didn't know WWFM, when a guy sang it a few years ago. Bad on him, but, what else is there? No, I don't care for his nekkid pics...ewwwwwww!! But, as a person, I'm just not sure that he's all that bad. He has a gay brother and has been proactive in gay rights. So, I'm a bit confused here. Someone enlighten me, please? And, as far as the People Mag goes, they are so far off base, it's not even funny!! Who the hell makes the choices there, anyways?? They should totally think about a true *Peoples Choice* in my opinion. And...that's all I got to say about that...hehehe! Mostly I think people are having fun with it and mocking People for the choice. *** New thread is up. Thank you for your answers Glittergma and Q3. And I think you are right - it was really a poor choice of People.
