Why Great Vocals Matter!

One of the many wonderful aspects of electronic music is it's ability to showcase amazing vocal talent that would have otherwise been missed or not been given the opportunity. Great vocals can take a somewhat mediocre production and elevate it to new heights...But of course that goes without saying that a great vocal cannot make up for lacklustre producing. The idea is to marry the two and create something that is both cohesive and harmonious. Here is a quick list of some of the many vocalists who I think are changing the game in no particular order:

While many recognize the singer from his days on American Idol (Let's get past this people), his vocal ability it literally unparalleled. I would go as far to say that his octave range and talent is far beyond any singer in existence currently...Talk about being born in the wrong era. Having recently collaborated with Avicii on 'Lay Me Down', Lambert has begun to dabble in the world of electronic music. Now with a guest spot on Glee, we see the singer covering Lady Gaga's 'Marry The Night'...He turned a pop song into a metal hair anthem with this cover. What just happened?

My 2 cents worth on QAL concerts in the US:

I think that they need to consider the concert going habits of the 2 fan groups. I don't know about the Queen fans, but I do know a bit about the Adam fans. Adam fans will travel from all over the world to see Queen+Adam. And they will stay for multiple shows in the same place, e.g., the London Hammersmith concerts. Some will even travel from city to city for concerts if it is not too costly. (How many of us are doing Biloxi & Winstar?) So, concerts in locations that are easy to travel to and not too horribly expensive in travel + lodging costs would work well for Adam fans. And multiple dates in a row in a mid-size venue would be much better than one large show in an arena. Or if not in the same venue, then close enough together in space & time so that we can make one vacation out of it.

Even though I am in the Eastern US, I'd actually rather go to LA than to NYC for a QAL concert. Problem is, they won't announce a 2nd & 3rd concert until the 1st concert is sold out. All airlines except SouthWest charge a penalty if you want to change your flights. I can fly SW to LA and change my flights without a penalty if more shows are added. I can't fly SW into NYC. And with the costs of hotels in NYC, it just makes a trip to NYC so much more expensive.

I've just seen this happen with the addition of the Biloxi concert. My concert roomie & I are both flying SW and were able to change our flights to fly to New Orleans first for the Biloxi concert and then to Dallas for the Winstar concert. It only cost me an additional $100 in airfare, although it cost my roomie a bit more than that. I heard for others on Twitter who could not add the Biloxi concert because they were locked into their non-SW airline tickets and could not change them.

I think there were some GNT concerts where a Ticketmaster pass code was issued by email. But for the Winstar we just logged into the fan club web site and went to the Events page:

When the sale opens, the "VIP Tickets" button next to the Biloxi concert should become enabled. Click on this and it will likely take you to the Ticketmaster web site in such a say that you can buy the tickets.

That is my best guess. But of course it may be different. In the absence of any instructions by email form the fan club, I would definitely check the fan club web site when the sale opens.

I don't think that there are any riddles in the new weibo to be decoded. It is the same thing Adam has been saying for many months and the same thing he said for a year before Trespassing came out. He is working on new music and he can't wait for us to hear it. Just a generic statement to let us know that he is STILL working on the music and hasn't forgotten us.

I think it just means what he has been saying in interviews lately -- he is in the studio working on new music (for A3) and is looking forward to sharing it with fans.

No riddles there. And unfortunately, no new news or a release date. So we continue to wait.
